Normal 101 °F Record 117 °F (1943) Yesterday 112 °F
After weeks of overcast and in some cases wet weather, the sun has returned with a vengeance ... and it's still several weeks from the official start of summer.
Forecasters say to expect temperatures around the century mark through the weekend in the inland valleys and over 116 in the low desert.

Big deal.
Its 10:30pm here and 99 degrees and it hit 112 the other day.
Try living in Phoenix.
To: jra
Their locale seems to be California. It was 111 degrees in the Phoenix, AZ area today. But, it's a dry heat, they say.
To: Central Scrutiniser
35 degrees here with a chance of snow flurries. Dang Syberia, anyhow. ;)

Ha! You beat me by a few seconds. About 9 pm last night our dashboard thermometer read 104 degrees. Didn't seem that hot after the sun went down.

Palm Springs, CA -- generally hot in the summer.
In LA, near the coast right now it's 68 degrees, and it was up to 76 today.

It will be above 110 for the next 4-5 weeks before the monsoons move in (we hope).
To: HungarianGypsy
I gotta spend the day in Prescott tomorrow, looking forward to the cool 90 degree temps!
To: MPJackal
The year it hit 122 here, any breeze felt like a hair dryer.
To: HungarianGypsy
I was working at the airport that day, the planes weren't flying because the performance charts only went to 120.
To: Central Scrutiniser
The worst was the year my husband and I were driving down from Flagstaff. It was 75 degrees that morning. We passed Sunset Point and heard some overly excited dj saying, "We made it to 100 degrees in Phoenix!!"
I never understand these idiots. They get all excited about the high temps, then act shocked when it gets over 110.
To: Central Scrutiniser
110! That temp would probably kill me. LOL

Its not so bad actually, the humidity is below 25%.
I get nailed when I go back east or where its 90% humidity and 100 degrees.
Where you at in AK?
I love it up there.

I was working at the airport that day, the planes weren't flying because the performance charts only went to 120. My husband likes to talk about how he was laying a gravel driveway as a landscaper that year. He added just now that warm weather is just Arizona's way of saying, "Thanks for the money. Now go home!"

Low humidity is a blessing in high temps like yours. Our son is visiting his in-laws in Texas and the humidity there is horrible.
We're in the eastern Interior of Alaska. Some folks are surprised when they hear that we have temps in the 80's to low 90's here during the summer months. I say we deserve that sort of heat after a cold winter. -30 is a warm day here in the winter months. -50 to -60's isn't unusual at all.

Was 100 or so today. Supposed to be 103 tomorrow. Just moved here to Lubbock on Thursday from Houston. I will take 103 and little humidity over 85 and near 100% humidity any day any time.

Ha, I bet Global Warming sounds good to an Alaskan. BRrRRRrrrrr-too cold winters there. But, watch, I bet they come up with cold winters in Alaska, as a symptom of Global warming too.

I was in Fairbanks three winters from '74-77 as an exec with Bechtel, when he did the Alaska Pipeline for Alyeska.
I saw it hit 62 below ONCE. One morning I went out to disconnect the head-bolt heater and start the Suburban.
When I shut the car door on the driver's side, the door vibrated just a bit -- and a sheet of paint the size of a folded newspaper came off the car door -- and dropped into the snow.
No foolin' That is a mite chilly. *S*
Fellow Freepers, pls have a great week.

Bullhead is rough.
Usually have a couple of cheap Minnesotan gamblers melt into the ground each summer. Nothing left but white buck shoes, the elastic from the Sans-a-belt and the "World's Greatest Grandpa" hat left.
To: BJungNan
We're having a rapid cool-off here, so much that I may need to get some wool sweaters out. Today it was 106, tomorrow it's expected to drop to 100. Brrrrrr.

A few years ago, I was vacationing in Las Vegas near the end of July, and since I was only going to be there for a few days, I decided to keep my central time zone sleep schedule. Since I normally get up between 5:30 and 6:00am, I was bored, and I really don't gamble much, so I thought that I'd pull on some shorts and a tee shirt, and get a little bit of exercise. I thought that I'd just take a walk down the strip.
I walked out the door of the casino, and it was like walking into a brick wall. It was over 95 degrees at about 4:30 in the morning there! Well, I turned around, went back to my room, cranked the AC to high, and jumped back under the covers and went back to bed!

Same here.
Love the Cool OCean in the PNW.
Anything over 72 degrees and I feel ill.
Actually the best days IMO are overcast, rainy and warm. PERFECT.
I am so use to cloudy days and working nights that a sunny day is too much on the eyes. Hate glare.

58 for a high here yesterday, should be in the low 80's. Someone forgot to tell God it's almost summer.

Ditto in the People's Republic of New Hampshire...around 50 this morning...sun may come out today for first time in quite a while. Over 100 degrees in the desert? I'm absolutely shocked.

You lucky ducky living on the South Plains now! The best part is that the dust storms are generally over until the fall, and even though it gets to 100+ in summer, when that desert sun goes down, you have cool, starry nights under that incredibly clear sky. As one who dwells now in the humidity pit near Houston, I envy you.
