CNN doesn't want to upset the jihadists. It would make them targets. /sarc
PONG
Could you give more details on exactly what the protest is about? Why does the site say a protest against anti-chauvinist article?
"CNN doesn't want to upset the jihadists. It would make them targets"
Actually, you're not far off. If CNN covers stories that the regime disapproves of, they will be thrown out of Iran.
Anything we do is covert, assuming we are doing something. We have inept government here. We were duped into thinking compassionate conservatism would equate into conservatism but it really is big government liberalism with a half assed tax cuts, tough talk against abortion and that's it.
Reagan conservatives got shafted. We need a visionary and not some recovering drug addict/alcoholic. Two in a row is 2 too many.
The source seems to indicate that Tabriz is in Azerbaijan, not Iran. A Google search confirmed this.
CNN had the same non-confrontational policy while they were in Iraq under Saddam.
Of course, such agreements invalidate their journalistic credibility... Um... If they had any to begin with.
This protest began before this march, in response to a cartoon in a newspaper that the Azeris took offense to. (there was a character in the cartoon who was depicted as a cockroach that spoke the azeri language/dialect and the Azeriss' didn't appreciate being depicted as a cockroach)
The title of this video is misleading, as this demonstration march is against the regime. Not just the cartoon. The cartoon was a catlyst for a bigger protest against the regime.

When does Sean Penn arrive to support the protesters? /s
Tabriz is in Iran. They have a large Azeri population.
Thanks. Amazing march.
Any FReepers in other parts of the world seeing this covered on their tv?

OK, sorry.
Apparently Tabriz, is in the East Azerbaijan Province of Iran. I didn't realize that differed from the Republic of Azerbaijan.
My apologies.

It might be sarcasm on your part, but it's probably true about CNN...
I don't think you are being sarcastic.
You are correct. They are trying to make money
by fomenting as much interest in "news" regardless
of what the truth really is.
The MSM should be discarded like old, dirty underwear.
Nothing here, but Iran is not a hot topics here.
"but Iran is not a hot topic here."
Well, you're in closer missile range than we are.
Iran should be a hot topic worldwide.
