Boxer Wants Troops Out of Iraq By Year's End

San Francisco, Calif. (KCBS) -- U.S Senator Barbara Boxer plans to introduce a resolution in the Senate calling for the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq within six months, if not earlier.

The California Senator, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, held a news conference today at San Francisco's War Memorial Building.

KCBS Reporter Barbara Taylor said the resolution conveys both strong language and a sense of irony, noting that each goal set by the Bush Administration has been met, whether it's eliminating Saddam Hussein or democratic elections.

The senator said there's simply no more reason to be there and lots of reasons to get out.

"Right now it's a drip, drip, drip of pain. It's a drip, drip, drip of horror," she said.

Boxer was asked to introduce this resolution calling for the withdrawal of troops within six months by two mothers with sons stationed there.

Ann Russler's son Michael was in the army's 82nd airborne during all three Iraqi elections.

"He called me and said this is as close to a win as we're ever going to get. And we need to get out now. And if we don't get out now, we're looking at another Vietnam."

The Boxer resolution isn't likely to be approved, but it does show a growing dissatisfaction in Congress with the failure of the Bush Administration to bring the war to a quick resolution.

He may be a fine soldier but I doubt he's a strategist.

Imagine it's World War II and there's a fruicake like Boxer in the US Senate or House.

Imagine we've suffered setbacks or defeats in Europe or the Pacific and various members of the government or the MSM decide that we should just give up.

What would history think of that? What would be the consequences of those actions by the seditious cowards in the government?

Bush has had some strange bed fellows of late. Not much would surprise me at this point.

Does anybody in their right mind think for a moment that Barbara Boxer gives a damn what happens in Iraq after we leave? A shining beacon of democracy or a mound of skulls reaching for the skies, she could not care less which. All she cares about is using this situation for partisan political advantage. If millions have to die in order to get her the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairmanship, well so be it.

This is the only way leftists get in the papers - touting the leftist media line. Makes for very interesting observations regarding the impact of diminishing return from the left's propaganda machine. Thank goodness for Al's Internet - bet he's pretty POed about inventing it now...:>D

"...but it does show a growing dissatisfaction in Congress with the failure of the Bush Administration to bring the war to a quick resolution."

It doesn't show anything of the kind. It shows that this miserable excuse for a US Senator is playing politics with the war and with our men & women in harms way.

Agreed. And I want the following people to leave Washington, DC;

Reid
Pelosi
Feinstein
Kennedy
McCain
Durbin
Graham
Clinton
Kerry
DeWine
The Idiot Contingent from Maryland.

I may have left a few out, but you get my drift.
Feel free to add to my list.

The bulk of Democrats/liberals/progressives/socialists/communists are purebred sniveling cowards, and they continue to display that fact every single day.

The GOP should thank God for their enemies, who seem determined to ensure that they remain in charge no matter how much they screw up.

Boxer doesn't want us to leave Iraq because we can't win.... she wants us to leave because she wants us to lose.
