"Only you "let's kick 'em all out" jihadists are pure and, by God, it's going to be your way or the highway".

No, it's you and the other 29% who are out of step on this
issue, just as you and the 29% were out of step on the Miers nomination. A large portion of conservatives had to clean up that mess and the Dubia Port Deal mess and we are more than willing to clean up this immigration mess as well.

And we will, one way or another. SECURE THE BORDER FIRST.
ARM THE NATIONAL GUARD!

LOL!! Look up "Doncasters-Dubai". Ever hear of it?

You were played for a fool on Dubai ports when "conservatives" were too busy chasing Mexicans to protest a Muslim country assuming ownership of the primary manufacturer of parts for some of our most vital military equipment.

That happened right under your noses and you didn't even notice.

We had to clean up the Miers mess, the really smart port deal mess. And now, the rest of us will force changes to the immigration bill and clean up that mess as well.

And we are up to the challenge.

And another thing. Looks like the reason Hasstert has been critical of the FBI raid is that he may be under investigation by the FBI, as well.

If you stick out your chest over DPW ports, yet get snookered over Doncasters, you ain't up to jack!

By "reform" you mean amnesty for illegal aliens so that they can then bring in millions of family members, many of whom are old but would still be eligible to collect Social Security, get free medical care, and free education for their children?

"Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana, who leads House GOP conservatives, unveiled a bill that would preserve the House's border security plan but add a narrow temporary worker program that would require ILLEGAL immigrants to go home to become eligible.

Dream on, these illegal immigrants will not abide by any law requiring them to go to their homeland, why should they? they have every thing now..more than legal citizens Even Mike Pence cannot bring himself to call them illegals...

I've already told you three times. What part of cleaning up the Miers mess, the port mess and the immigration mess do you 29 percenters not understand.

Do you think we are going to stand around and watch the pro open borders crowd destroy this country without a fight. SECURE THE BORDERS. ENFORCE THE LAW.

I understand snookered, and you got snookered on Doncasters.

You don't even know what that is, do you?

Actually I don't know. But I do know this. This GOP has divided the Republican party with it's policies, not it's personalities in ways that will be hard to mend.

you wrote: "By "reform" you mean amnesty for illegal aliens so that they can then bring in millions of family members, many of whom are old but would still be eligible to collect Social Security, get free medical care, and free education for their children?"

i don't get it. obviously, your heart is in the right place. and, hanging around fr, you have to be better educated than most.

so why do you say "millions of family members?"

do the math: 10 million illegals for starts. each can bring in up to 18 (under present law, jorge and the senate's plan doubles that to 36).

historically, they don't bring in 18 or 36; they bring in five. likely that will increase slightly.

but let's say five. so that's 10 million PLUS 50 million. 60 million.

still with me? good.

now, add to that the additional 2 million per year that will be allowed. in 20 years that's (hm ... 20 times 2 million equals 40 million). bingo! another 40 million. in 20 years.

that's 100 million ... third world, illiterate, unskilled, non english speaking welfare recipients (and demonrat voters).

at a minimum. what if there's more than 10 million? what if it's really 30 million like the far more credible studies from the far more credible sources say?

300 million third world, illiterate, unskilled, non english speaking welfare recipients.

those are the facts, friend. it ain't "millions." it ain't tens of millions. it's hundreds of millions that we're talking about.

oh, i forgot. the chain migration of the 2 million per year. no idea. 40 x 5? another 200 million third world, illiterate, non english speaking welfare recipients?

plus, need it be said, the illegals that will continue to swarm, 'cause nothing will be done about the border?

wasn't it just a few months ago that everyone's panties were all in a bunch cause a few million boomers were going to retire?

You're still annoyed that you came up a complete blithering fool with your dire predictions about what would happen if the incompetent Harriet Miers wasn't made a SCOTUS justice.

So when you assure us that our choice on the immigration mess is to surrender or die, you'll understand if we laugh you to scorn.

I want to renounce my citizenship and become an illegal alien. Can anyone here at Free Republic tell me how to do it. I'm not kidding.

So you can do the FReeping that FReepers won't do? LOL!

I love Pence's idea and the WH and Senate should seriously look at it.

Pence's idea requires that, "The agencies would find matches for the jobs and conduct health screening and background checks, with visas issued by the State Department in the workers' home countries."

Does anyone think that the illegals will trust the USG and return home under such a scheme? What happens if they can't pass the background check?

Pence's solution kills two birds with one stone.

The border is secured, and he also solves the "what to do with the illegals already here" riddle.

Does anyone think that the illegals will trust the USG and return home under such a scheme?

What are they going to do when the jobs and benefits dry up? Those who really want to work here in the U.S. will go home and apply for the visa. The La Raza/MS-13 criminal illegals will be exposed and deported or imprisoned.

God bless Tancredo, but he needs to get behind Pence on this.

No matter how you look at it, a guest-worker provision will (unfortunately) be included in any immigration bill that reaches Bush's desk. Better to support Pence's strict guest-worker provision than the administration's AMNESTY guest-worker provision. You know how Bush is. He'll have to scrape the cobwebs from his veto pen and use it for a change.

people have been saying there wont be a bill coming out of conference, i bet there will be.

Just came across this from Rep Jack Kingston:

John Hawkins: Let me ask you one more question. You may not be able to answer, but give it your best shot. What do you think is going to happen if and when we get a bad Senate bill through and it goes into committee with the House Bill?

Jack Kingston: The House will kill it.

John Hawkins: You think so? You don’t think the House would let something that conservatives would be really upset with get through?

Jack Kingston: I don’t think so. I think there is a lot of division in the House, but I think we would kill it. …We don’t want perfection to be the enemy of progress here because we didn’t get into this situation overnight and we won’t get out of it overnight….

John Hawkins: So you don’t think amnesty will get through?

Jack Kingston: No, and I can tell you that there are about 180 House members (who’ve) drawn a pretty strong line in the sand on that.
