Unfortunately, I predicted this about a year ago, and further predicted that not only would the next big attack come via the Me-hee-co border, but would in some way result from some looney judge letting an AQ type out of jail on some civil liberties charge.
It's now whether this will happen. It's when. And when it does, other posters here are right, the firestorm against the senators, libs, and RINOs will be unprecedented.

There are some people who are praying for it to actually happen. Joseph Farah being the best known of the kooks. Of course, some people on FR wouldn't mind if it happened since could be used against the great Satan, George W. Bush.

That was always my opinion, too. However, the more I learned about the Sharia, fatwas, and other legalisms within the Islamic sects, the more it makes sense that they'd employ patience and strategy. However, I'm suspect of the decay rates and associated contamination (and related operational tech) which would support "use it or lose it". Further research indicates that DC is surrounded by detectors 'though I've not had verification of this.

Hamid Mir's credibility skyrocketed when he accurately predicted in G2 Bulletin last month the imminent release of a new recorded communiqué from bin Laden through al-Jazeera, the Arabic TV network. Two days later, bin Laden's tape was the focus of international news coverage. Well, if this guy is a credible source of info - let's hope he is on a list of people waiting to be nabbed by SOF.

They tested at least one dirty bomb in the Kunar province of Afghanistan in 2000.The author's credibility just took a big hit. Had this occurred, it would have showed up in atmospheric radiation testing all over. And, we control Afghanistan now. Why haven't we noticed a big swath of land that is radioactive?
This just sounds like bloviating muslims and a gullible journalist.

I doubt the story as it is World Net. However, for arguments sake assume it is true and we are attacked. I do think that our president would remove all terrorists states as a functioning society and military threat, with nuclear strikes.
This would mean goodbye Iran, Syria, North Korea. The terrorists of the world have to have safe haven and finance. Thus those that provide this are as guilty as the group that carries out an attack. I would suspect the nations supporting terror know this.

Suitcase nukes that old won't detonate. They would either have to be rebuilt into new weapons, possible but very difficult, or used as dirty bombs, more likely. If a dozen dirty bombs go off here, there will most likely be fewer deaths than on 9/11. Deaths of Americans that is, no bet on how many islamists die, but I'd guess quite a few.
