"the vast majority of Americans find Colbert's type of "humor" juvenile and extremely unfunny."

Thats an understatement. But it makes lefties laugh, so the alphabet media keeps cranking it out. It's actually hard to find a decent comedian these days. They all seem to be reading the same tired script. It turns my stomach.

"...I'm not really sure who this Colbert is or why this jackass Elfman is pushing him so vigorously..."

Trust your gut instinct - Colbert is a sour political comedian and Elfman is just as sour - both have a fatal case of BBS. (Bush Bashing Syndrome)

"On cable, only CNN still plays the journalism-school middle ground most of the time, questioning liberals, moderates and conservatives with equal skepticism and respect."

The truth is many in the media wrote about Bush's stand-up routine at the dinner as if they had just watched the coming of a comic genius, but they didn't report much on Colbert's funnier, harsher jokes.

Colbert wasn't funny. As a "humorist" he should be happy he wasn't the story.

I think Elf-man suffers from small man disease.

"I stand by" Bush, Colbert cracked, "because he stands for things. Not only for things, he stands on things. Things like aircraft carriers and rubble, and recently flooded city squares. And that sends a strong message that no matter what happens to America, she will always rebound with the most powerfully staged photo ops in the world."

It's not reported because it is not funny. Presidents have been staging photo ops since Theodore Roosevelt. Reagan was good at it too. So was Clinton (and he had more cooperation). George the Elder was not so good at it. George the Younger (with whom I have many beefs) at least learned not to make his father's mistakes.

Colbert is a John Stewart wannbe, only less funny.
Elfman is a TV critic, IOW he is a no talent hack who spend his life criticizing others. I've scrapped stuff off the the bottom of my shoe, that had a higher IQ !

....Colbert's funnier, harsher jokes.....

I watched both performances. Colbert fell flat on his ass. The audience did not laugh and had embarrased looks. There were calls for the hook in the location from which I watched.

The man flat out blew a great opportunity.

Colbert needs to go back to clown college. In comedy, timing is everything. <>br>Colbert's timing was way off.

Amen to that.
When FOX News Channel broke away to show some of the event, all I
could think was...
FOX has shown that some liberal comic types aren't all that funny.
And FOX did it by simply reporting the news.

'Star comedian?' Holding up a picture of Eric Cartman would have been funnier than this jackass.

But the TV news corps, the unthinking and unblinking herd of pack journalists, prefer to laugh with the president, and kiss many viewers goodbye.

Does anyone know what this sentence means? He is saying if you laugh WITH the president, you kiss many viewers goodbye? Since only about twenty percent of the country sides with the knee-jerk left, he can't be saying that. Chicago doesn't have a beltway in which he can be inside, right?

I am so confused.

Colbert sucked big time, perhaps that's why he was mostly ignored. He was the worse I've seen at the WHCD. You know where this guy is coming from when he says CNN is balanced, lol.
In past years it seems the president always gets more of the attention, anyway, and this year the president was funnier than I've ever seen.

I wasn't there; just saw newsclips.
TO ME, he just rattled off some jokes like he was reading headlines
for the bottom-of-the hour news on radio.
Except he was slower and even less funny.
I thought maybe it was just me, but eh laughter from the audience seemed
sort of thin (but that could just be bad microphone arrangement).

I've seen his show a few times. He can be funny there...but not
funny enough to get me to tune in regularly.
(And I do go for the news commentator type of comedy format...for most
years I have tried to catch the intro and news portion of SNL...those are
the parts of the show usually guaranteed to get me chuckling.)

I agree the Helen Thomas skit could have been really funny but he totally wrecked it.

Is this what is considered professional journalism today?:

Ha ha, our "war president" knows he's a village idiot?

Sounds like a 2nd grader at recess.
