"Without geography, our young people are not ready to face the challenges of the increasingly interconnected and competitive world of the 21st century."Well, if the Enviro-weenies at Nat'l Geo would actually cover more geography instead of writing their pet tree-hugging articles, they might have a leg to stand on.

"Young Americans know little about world geography, with the majority unable to locate Iraq on a map and three quarters unable to find Indonesia, according to a study."
Perhaps this is because ideological purveyors of "social change" teach "social geography" in lieu traditional geography.

Young Americans know little about world geography, with the majority unable to locate Iraq on a map and three quarters unable to find Indonesia, according to a study.... half or fewer unable to identify the states of New York or Ohio on a map.
Does anyone know how these studies are done? Do they hand out maps with just the outlines of countries, or what?

I think I could label nearly all correctly with no prompting, although some of the smaller African countries on the Atlantic coast would give me a problem.

Oh look... Public Education fails again... But I will bet every kid knows how "evil" President Bush and how "righteous" Cindy Sheehan "is"... I bet they can also recite "anti-war" leftist rants from memory....
And if they don't know what a Bible is, I bet they can recite the Koran from their "multicultural" studies...

Your National Teacher Association at work here. This might explain why Democrats can not find polling places?
