Why May Day? (for illegal alien rallies)
thenewamerican ^ | April 29, 2006

Posted on 04/30/2006 11:48:48 AM PDT by dennisw

May 1 is the date for the "Great American Boycott of 2006" calling for the legalization of millions of illegal aliens. Couldn’t a better date have been chosen -- one not tainted with the image of communist May Day celebrations from Moscow to Havana? [Click here for video of recent pro-amnesty demonstrations around the U.S., including video and audio evidence of the role of the radical A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now to Stop War & End Racism) organization behind the scenes.]

“On May 1, the world working class displays its strength in demonstrations and strikes,” explains communist writer Andy McInerney in the Spring 1996 issue of Liberation & Marxism. “May Day — International Workers’ Day — is a reminder to the ruling classes that their days are numbered.... From 1919 onward, the success of May Day in the United States would depend on the success of the communist movement.”

Though most of the “Great American Boycott” demonstrators would not see themselves marching in solidarity with the communists, the same would not apply to some of the boycott organizers and promoters. The Andy McInerney quoted above writes for the International Action Center and International A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now to Stop War & End Racism), two of the most active coalitions promoting the May 1 marches. He is also a staff writer for Workers World, the newspaper of the hardcore communist Workers World Party.

Brian Becker, the national coordinator of A.N.S.W.E.R. and one of the official organizers of the May 1 events, is also a member of the secretariat of the Workers World Party.

Another May 1 boycott leader is Macrina Cardenas, who works closely with Becker and McInerney at A.N.S.W.E.R., while also heading Mexicans Without Borders and the Mexican Solidarity Network (MSN). She also works closely with the communist Zapatistas (or EZLN) of Mexico. Cardenas’ MSN announced that on May 1 she would be leading — together with EZLN chief, Subcomandante Marcos — “an explicitly anti-capitalist movement” on both sides of the border. While some Hispanic reformers “want to emphasize immigrants’ participation in the ‘American dream’,” Cardenas and the MSN cadres say they “see this as an important moment in the anti-capitalist struggle for worker rights and emphasize the ‘reserve army’ role that most migrant workers assume within the neo-liberal capitalist system.”

Of course, information of this type sounds silly to many Americans who have been led to believe that communism is dead.

International A.N.S.W.E.R. is involved in this. Picking May Day was not an accident or oversight. They knew what they were doing.

The illegal alien activists had better be watchful. The same sort of "anti-globalization" nuts who riot outside World Trade Organization meetings are attaching themselves like limpets to this issue as a means of getting more press. I wouldn't be surprised to see them try to stir up some trouble.

You are exactly correct! May Day is a COMMUNIST HOLIDAY.

IIRC, I think it's Lenin's birthday.

I'm betting that Monday will be consumed with Rush explaining the deal he cut with the Florida prosecutor. At least the first hour anyway.

May Day predates the inception of the USSR, although they did co-opt it.

IIRC, I think it's Lenin's birthday.

You remember incorrectly.

The origins of May Day festivities are Pagan and ancient, having to do with spring, fertility rites, etc.

Yes, I know, (though the origin is not necessarily "pagan"). And that would certainly predate the USSR.

Here is alert to all legal taxpayers. The schools in and around Houston, TX are telling the hispanic children that there is NO school Monday. This is appalling, the education is on our backs and the school districts are helping them continue to keep the gun to our heads. Please, everyone call your television stations, gov. officials, ect. and let them know of the manipulations they are pulling and that we are tired of paying the bills. We here in my area are raising hell about this and hope you join us in the fight for our money.

No you guys got it all wrong. Here is an informative quote from an immigration activist on another thread.

"May 1 is Labor Day in most countries around the world and it is celebrated in honor of those who lost their lives to gain the eight-hour work day," Hidalgo said. (Dora Hidalgo, president of South Texas Amigos de Mexico)

All these commies are celebrating an eight hour work day. Don't you feel safer now. :)

That isn't what matters.

The only thing of importance to us in our time, and in this situation, is what the day has come to symbolize.

There's nothing to explain. His attorney has already posted the "explanation". If you don't accept that - just say so.

I agree with what they did - because I understand how the law works, and there was no other way to get these people off his back except to FORCE them to charge him with something - which they had never done; they had accused, but never filed a formal charge. Now, they have made ONE CHARGE - which will be erased in 18 months - why? Because they don't have anything to prove their case - AND THE PROSECUTORS ALREADY KNOW IT. The charge is a phoney - forced by the lawyer - and the fact that it will go away in 18 months PROVES THERE IS NO EVIDENCE TO SUBSTANTIATE THE CHARGE.

Better to enter a plea against a charge and have it dismissed than to have the SUSPICION hanging over his head for years and years; to be exploited by the media.

Rush won!

From a purely Marxist point of view May Day is perfect - it symbolizes the power of the proletariat, the lowest stria of the working class, and more importantly that solidarity among that class supercedes national borders and, in fact, nationality itself. A number of the protesters, possibly the majority, want only to be American citizens; others don't want there to be an America, and still others don't want there to be any such thing as citizenship.

The choice of that day is an attempt by hard leftists to subvert and control a popular movement by becoming its public vanguard. Classic case, in fact. And the media are going to be torn between publicizing the most radical, inflammatory elements of the protests because it makes better copy, and attempting to control the perception of the country that a protest with which they by a wide margin sympathize is, after all, only Americans wanting to be formalized. To that end they'll be showing lots of American flags.

The confusion on the part of both major political parties in this matter is the result of both of them risking alienation of large portions of their base by taking too strong a position either way. Certainly I get the sense from FR that it has cost Bush part of his base. The Dems run the same risk, which is why you see Pelosi and Feinstein throttling back the demagoguery for a change. It shouldn't actually be a partisan issue but when the Beltway Boys get through with the polls and the focus groups, it will be.

"Though most of the “Great American Boycott” demonstrators would not see themselves marching in solidarity with the communists"

I take issue with that. For some reason, probably the "I've been hard done to and deserve a free lunch" syndrome, many South and Central Americans seem to gravitate to outright Marxists for their preferred leaders. So May 1 has a lot of symbolic significance we Norteamericanos, who think "Communism is dead," miss.

I have wondered from the get go of this planned 1 May 06 , uprising of illegal aliens against, us, their victims; why they chose to hold it upon the most holy day of the gd communists?

The answer now is obvious: The news of the death of communism, was grossly exaggerated. It was just lying dormant while the world produced a few generations of useful idiots.

They are b-a-a-a-a-a-k!!

Good afternoon.
"The origins of May Day festivities are Pagan and ancient, having to do with spring, fertility rites, etc."

Unfortunately, the choice of May Day for the demonstration has nothing to do with ancient spirituality and everything to do with Communism and red flags.

Maybe this falls under the heading of: " What if the school doors were thrown open and nobody came?"

The proper reaction from the school should be to expel the absentees for the remainder of the school year. The notice should read: " See you next fall, same grade, same desk. Same dumb ass?"

The Congress, by Public Law 85-529, as amended, has designated May 1 of each year as "Loyalty Day," and I ask all Americans to join me in this day of celebration and in reaffirming our allegiance to our Nation.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 1, 2003, as Loyalty Day. I call upon all the people of the United States to join in support of this national observance. I also call upon government officials to display the flag of the United States on all government buildings on Loyalty Day.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this thirtieth day of April, in the year of our Lord two thousand three, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and twenty-seventh.

GEORGE W. BUSH

I always cringe whenever I see those anti-American Marxist-Lenisists refer to themselves as A.N.S.W.E.R., esp when supporting illegals.

Therefore, I propose that henceforth all Freepers start using, and call on all friends, radio-hosts, columnists etc to employ a far more fitting acronym:
