Thankfully Howie isn't in charge of anything anymore. May that remain so.
I guess I would say that it's up to each individual church, temple, mosque etc., but it seems to me it would greatly benefit any religious/spiritual organization to be unbeholden to the government to the greatest extent possible.
Not being Catholic my criticism is reserved to my sense of appropriate civic responsibility and not a doctrinal dispute. It does seem sensible for religious authorities to emphasize their own doctrine rather than personal opinions and the doctrine in full instead of handpicked areas of interest. I walk a fine line just saying that. But anyone who takes their views public has opened themselves up for comment from everyone.
This ought to be a wake up call to any conservative Catholics..........
Should be, but how times have changed. I can remember when it could reasonably be expected that "compassionate" Cardinals would be directing their concerns to all those (CLOSE BY) who would be harmed by this insanity.
Less for the elderly, special education funds denied for illegals, more drugs and violence, terrorists entering unchecked, etc.
But then again, it's now become fashionable to jump on the "compassion" wagon.
To bad some of them didn't show some of it when it came to the young lives of those in their "spiritual care".
If the Cardinals are advising on politics, then their entity is a taxable entity.
Correction: Special ed funds denied for CITIZENS!
Sorry
Yank the tax exempt status of the RCC. They have no business lobbying the pols in D.C.
Morning TigersEye,
Thank you for the clarification and I do apologize to you.
"Patoot" that is a new word to add to my myriad of satire endeavors.
I do consider humor to be constructive and gracefully appreciate your response.
Sincerely,
NSNR
Thank you so much. Apology accepted gladly. I was sure you had misunderstood me and not hopeful that I could clarify well enough to change that. I can't resist the urge to pat myself on the back for resisting the urge to flame your last response. There may be hope for me yet but your graciousness came through your anger/confusion and made it easy. In a world where hostility often reigns it is much appreciated.
"Patoot" that is a new word to add to my myriad of satire endeavors.
Is that new to you? I'm glad to have added to your repertoire. It's an old word for 'rear end' substituted for the cruder one usually used in that aphorism.
I guess you understand the meaning of the joke I attempted. It was a bit lame and probably didn't come across well in this forum environment. It was merely the unintentional play of your words, due to the typo, that sounded amusing to me. My first thought was "that would be a fitting opening for every post and poster here."
"Hi, my name is TigersEye and I'm a FReep-aholic."
"Hi, my name is TigersEye and I'm a politic-aholic."
"Hello, my name is TigersEye and I'm a foot-in-mouth-aholic."
Now, let's secure the borders and forget the whole thing. ; )
