Very interesting exchange by Risen on Sources
MSNBC ^ | Jan. 3, 2006 | By Andrea Mitchell

Posted on 04/24/2006 8:22:03 PM PDT by generationfixit

Risen: No, they haven't printed it, but again, I don't want to get into The New York Times, one way or the other.

Mitchell: But did you have concerns about putting it into your book?

Risen: I thought about it, you know. I thought about everything. one way or the other, but I thought that this story was so old, that it no longer really mattered. As I said, goes back to the Clinton years.

Mitchell: How do you balance your own role finally? You've broken some major stories here, and critics, the administration will say that it compromises American efforts on the war on terror, and gives our enemies clues as to the way we operate.

Risen: I think that vigorous and independent investigative reporting is critical to the functioning of a healthy democracy. And it's what separates us from other countries. And if we decide that we don't want independent, aggressive investigative reporting, then we'll become more like other countries and less like the United States.

Mitchell: Would you go to jail to protect sources?

Risen: Well, I'd rather not have to think about that right now.

Mitchell: Thank you very, very much.

Your right about that.

If you read the whole interview...you can't help but feel he is spilling a " party line " in fact earlier in the interview he has absolutely NO reservations about the information he just printed. He is pounding his chest because he felt everyone needed to know. Did he fell it or did someone decide he needed to " put it out there " with the intent to damage the president.

Please note that both are liberal New York Jews.

I suggest a close examination of Dennis Prager's recent article posted here in FR tonight about the longstanding Jewish cultural linkage to ultra-liberal politics (and causes).

Recently, I have had some very interesting discussions (and studies) of this phenomena with my close Jewish political science buddy. (He is one of the very few conservative Jews I have had the pleasure of analyzing this complex subject with.) We end up just shaking our collective heads in bewilderment.

These people have no regrets other than the idea of being held accountable.

As to Risen's observations that . . .if we decide that we don't want independent, aggressive investigative reporting, then we'll become more like other countries and less like the United States.

I would respond that this is precisely what all this is about. . .these Libs wanting to change the United States into the marxist model that abounds in countries around the world.

And they are willing to sell compromise the security and integrity of our country and our Miilitary to accomplish their goals.

Oh I really think that Risen is just a pawn.

He knows it is illegal what he is doing. But he probably feels like he is now part of something much larger and will be protected. But he does not realize what he is doing. A stenographer just puts it out there. He can claim that he was just writing what he was told to write.

The ramifications are irrelivent. The end goal the the justificaiton of everything that they do. Their stupid " just a leak to let the American people know what was going on " is insane! That means that really nothing can be " Classified " because it would not mean anything ( with thier argument) to the party that let the information out.

They pee onthemselves to hang Libby for Plame....hell in their eyes Libby should he heralded as a Whistleblower!

???
But that's the GOAL of Risen and his Democrat Party ilk - - to turn our country into a Euro-style, secular-socialist welfare state and make America as great as.... France. This guy Risen is one confused little mouse.

But he does not realize what he is doing

Sure, , ,but what are friends for. particularly those who share the inferior philosophy whereby any means is justified to accomplish a goal.

Despite their best if not damnable efforts, national securiity is NOT a 'level playing field that anyone can play on.

Ex-CIA Officer Indicted for Leaking Classified Info to New York Slimes Reporter Jeffrey Sterling, a former CIA officer, was indicted today for leaking classified information to New York Times reporter James Risen. The indictment shows that the federal government had access to their e-mail and phone contacts going back several years. Sterling served on the Iran desk of the CIA in the 1990s, and oversaw a classified program aimed at sabotaging the development of its nuclear programming. He left the CIA in 2000 and sued for racial discrimination (he is African American) in a case that went all the
