Impeached After Just One Season?

WILL SHE BE IMPEACHED?
Thu Apr 13 2006 08:14:38 ET

ABC is preparing to dismiss the first female president of The United States -- after less than a year on the job!

While it is not clear if the country is ready for a woman to take the title of COMMANDER IN CHIEF, TV executives at ABC have all but decided to pull the plug on the breakthrough drama, top sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

"No one here will say publicly that it's over [for the show]," a well-placed insider said this week from Los Angeles. 'But it is over."

The program returns this evening after a long recess -- with the president's husband groping an intern!

ABC suits will not renew COMMANDER unless audience levels can hold a 15 share, a source claims. The show crashed from a high of nearly 17 million viewers for its second episode to 10.4 million for its last, Jan. 24.

Geena Davis as President Mackenzie was launched with much fanfare and topical news crossover:

A search of the NEXIS database shows 918 press stories containing the terms "Geena Davis" and "Hillary Clinton."

"On 'COMMANDER IN CHIEF,' art can now imitate life," cheered the SAINT PAUL PIONEER PRESS.

But at season's end, the New York senator's handlers are surely hoping that real life does not imitate the art.

The MSM better take another poll to relieve their sorrows over this disaster.

Clearly, the country is NOT ready for a women President.

Just imagine that network TV put on a show about a real Conservative president. He'd be humble. He'd hire blacks for positions of power. He'd explain supply and demand, and the laffer curve, and free trade to people. His opponents would be mush-brained senators who talk about feelings, criticize everything, and have no idea what they want to see in place of what they criticized.

Would it be a comedy? Would it be a drama? I don't know. But I bet it would be more popular than Geena Davis.

I think a show like that could attract a real audience. It could be a real money-maker for the network. Of course, they'd rather drop dead than make a pilot for that.

Hillary would first have to actually get elected for life to imitate art, and I really can't see that happening. Heck, if Canada has now gone to a Conservative government, I find it hard to believe the US will revert back to a Lib government.

Every thing's a freakin fad to the Rats and MSM. They remind me of a high school where a bunch of girls get together and discuss the newest style of shoes and how ugly the girl is that can't afford them (giggle, giggle).

Guys let us get serious, no one knows who will be the next president or whether America is ready for a female president. I see a very chaotic election cycle, the likes of which we haven't seen in modern times. Hilliary will run but she might not make it out or the primaries and if she does she will incredibly weakened. The field for the Republicans is shaping up to be very strong with: Romney, Guilioni, Allen, and McCain. The Democratic Party is a died Party, and soon there will be only two wings of the Republican Party, Bush wing and Religious Right wing.

Anyone remember "The Governor and JJ?" Early 70's sitcom about a folksy (as I recall, Reganesque) governor with a basset hound and a doating daughter. The gov was a nice guy and the series gentle. I can almost picture W as the central character, but you are right...never get made.

I have the biggest grin on my face right now ... couldn't have happened to a nicer liberal.

Buh bye, Geena.

She'll carry the nomination though. I don't think the GOP will have much to worry about in the next election cycle.

I'll take an American version of Maggie Thatcher any day. We're not ready for a liberal woman president, and hopefully we will never be.

I watched the show the first couple of weeks. Zzzzzzzz! What a dull show. I really don't know why I expected more.

In general, government shows are boring. I watched E-Ring a couple of times also. Same result - Zzzzzzz.

The only recent exception I can think of is 24. Now a 24 style government program might be interesting. If Ted Kennedy threatens a fillibuster which will consume the next 12 episode, Jack Bauer could just kneecap him and demand an immediate vote.
