“bra burning/afraid you won’t be the favorite” Probably shouldn’t degrade and nullify your argument with the use of personal insults. I am not dictating, I’m expressing an opinion much like you are. In fact, if you read what you wrote, nowhere is there a FACT thus I’d say your posting is speculation as well. However, I have the bible on my side as well as about a zillion child psychologists who will likely agree that plural marriages that are unsteady by definition are unhealthy for children. And I’m not going to do any research on the web or read any books on it. It’s my opinion. I’m not interested in plural marriage, so I don’t feel the need to look anything up. You see, I think that plural marriage is a big fat ego trip for some guy who thinks he has a bitchin’ lot to share. As I stated, I’ve had the opportunity to taste much of the “water”, all walks of life, all ages, from the four corners of the earth. And I ain’t never met a guy who was that good. You may think you’re that guy! God bless you if you do! But me? I don’t think you are. No insult intended, spelling aside, but I just don’t think so. I don’t think there is one that good. Donnie Trump couldn’t talk me into it. Clint Eastwood might come close, but it’d still be no cigar.

Hey! I'm not saying plural marriage is for me. One wife is plenty. I am just tired of big brother (aka the US federal government) getting involved in state's rights. Marriage is not something that needs to be meddled in imo by the feds. That being said, I do not think defining marriage as a man and a woman should be done either. As long as there are consenting adults, I don't believe the government should be sticking their noses in...la

Well if polygamy were ever legal in this country, polygyny would be too.

Polyandry (what you meant) is a woman with more than one husband, polygyny is a man with more than one wife.

Polyandry has virtually no historical precedent because the strongest man in such a relationship will simply kill his rivals and take the woman for himself - it's a biological reality in mammalian species. Men don't share. ;)

Polygyny was historically common because wars killed off a disproportionate number of young men. For a young woman facing economic hardship, being one of several wives to a wealthy and powerful man was not a bad deal.

Polyamory is in fact perfectly legal (see: Hefner, Hugh) - it's just that government-defined marriage and its attendant benefits can only legally be conferred on one other person at a time. And polyamory is widely practiced informally - there are plenty of women out there who would rather have 33% of Brad Pitt than 100% of Morty the Accountant. I don't think polygamy will be legalized any time soon, however, because it messes up government projections for things like Social Security in a way that gay marriage doesn't.

Only stupid women share.

I'd rather have 100% of Morty than 50% of Brad Pitt.

I'm sure you would rather have 33% of Pamela Anderson than 100% of Helen Thomas.
It amazes me that so many of the participants in these posts seem to have no problem with polygamy but find polyandry objectionable.
