[history]
Residents of two towns were ordered to stop using water from their taps after someone broke into the area's supply facility and left behind a 5-gallon container that had an odor.
Officials stressed that there was no evidence the water supply had been contaminated, but they ordered the halt to water use as a precaution while the container and water were being tested.

Is this why everyone in Massachusetts is a crazy leftist moonbat?
To: mathprof
What could they possibly put in the water supply that would contaminate the whole system from just 5 gallons.

Not all of us...but some days I do feel like I'm starring in a remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers...retitled March of the Moonbats or something like that...they see a conservative and moan "Not one of us! Not one of us!".
I sit in traffic sometimes and look at the bumper stickers...a pastime is to count the number of "Kerry/Edwards" stickers left on moonbat-mobiles in an expression of protest that only whiny, spoiled trust-fund brats can make.
As for what's in the water on Beacon Hill, where our loony legislature lives: My guess is gin.

Dumped something into the storage tank. Some stuff out there in the hazardous substance field is an RQ nightmare in really small quantities.
If it is one of those types the whole tank will need to be decontaminated. The article over on AP says residents were instructed not to drink, bath, do laundry, or have it make skin contact. Pretty extreme instruction. Schools shut down bathrooms and brought in port-o-lets.
Hopefully it was just a stupid prank.

In case anyone is interested in more details, the two towns affected are Blackstone, MA and N. Smithfield, RI. The towns share the same water supply, and the schools are closed.
On a personal note, my town borders both of those towns, and I am not drinking the water. (...not even giving it to my pets.)

I would think if it was something SO BAD that 5 gallons could ruin a water supply for two cities, they would have found a dead body not for from where the bucket was opened.
No?

Don't even brush your teeth in the water until given the all clear.I hear you. The sad thing is that I didn't even know about this until I read it here on FR. Thankfully the mods let this one stay in breaking, or I surely would have missed it.
I am going out to get more bottled water now, because if the tests show something bad tomorrow, there'll be none to be had.
