I support the bill EXCEPT one section of the Scott Gardner Act that was included - requiring states to sign the Tri-National Database program called the "Driver License Agreement" (DLA) concerning drunk drivers. If the information sharing is done through the National Driver Register (NDR) instead of the DLA, then I support it. It is in Section 606(c)2. I contacted my congressman and the sponsors of this that they should use the NDR since it is already operating and less of an invasion of privacy versus the DLA which has no database yet - delay and is an invasion of privacy.

The DLA would require states to share driver information especially sensitive information like Social Security Numbers. Canada and Mexico are included. Also, foreign countries are not required to abide in the Driver Privacy Protection Act. If I was a stalker wanting to find someone. If the the "stalkee" happen to live in a state that has signed the DLA, I would go to Mexico, bribe an official to get the information and go stalk ! States that have signed the DLA must share information with member and non-member states alike.

Sorry, I don't think this is near enough and it's way, way too late.

And with the house ablaze, the Senate will debate the installation of smoke detectors. Damned scary!

I strongly support H.R. 4437. Now is the time to put the heat on the House of Lords to back it. Otherwise, we'll end up with the amnesty ("guest worker") sham of Pres. Arbusto/Chamber of Commerce/La Raza et al.

No, the sources are listed in the article, including an Immigration Control advocate.

Believe what you want to believe.

No one is justifying anything.

But to every symptom, there is a disease.

Illegal immigration and the government's lack of action to stop illegal immigration is a symptom, not a disease.

"Steven Camarota, director of research at the Center for Immigration Studies, an advocacy group in Washington that favors more limits on immigration, estimated that 3.8 million households headed by illegal immigrants generated $6.4 billion in Social Security taxes in 2002.

SSA Attempts to Stem Fraud
Employers are required by law to verify that an employee has a valid SSN. The Social Security Administration has long been aware that millions of people living illegally in the United States have obtained SSNs fraudulently using a variety of means. It has systematically taken steps to limit the purposes for which an SSN can be issued and to better validate the underlying "breeder" documents presented to obtain a SSN. In May 2002, SSA announced a new initiative, a beneficial by-product of which has been to identify people working illegally in the United States. The program’s purpose is to reduce the size and growth of what is known as the Earnings Suspense File (ESF).

When employers file annual withholding tax reports, SSA matches the report from the employer to the name, address, and SSN provided by an employee. So-called "mismatches" are posted to the ESF, which contains information on $327 billion in wages accrued between tax years 1937 and 1999. In 1999 alone, the ESF grew by 8.3 million W-2s and $39.4 billion in wages. A recent SSA report indicated that 96 per cent of ESF wages had been posted since 1970, about the time that an unprecedented number of illegal immigrants began arriving in the United States.1

I strongly support it. Build the wall. Get the Border Patrol to work with the Minuteman Project and vice versa. And another interesting concept - ENFORCE THE LAW! Wow! What a concept!
