It's called Projection. i.e accusing others of what you are guilty of.
Since when is the Vatican a country? Must have happened while I was sleeping.
I'm sure D.P. was responding to the article. He just posted it to Coleus because that's who posted the article!
It's called projection.
Awesome, I love it when my enemies show their biggotry. The Catholic Church is strong. These weak pansies are a part of a passing fad.
In the good old days they would have laid an interdiction on San Francisco.
Vatican City is it's own state.

Not sticking up for SF just clarifying the issue for you.
I guess hey could call it Sodom on the Bay? And that town across the bay could be Gomorrah.
That's the ticket.
"While many city's residents agree with the Church's stand against homosexual adoption, the resolution stated "It is an insult to all San Franciscans when a foreign country, like the Vatican, meddles with and attempts to negatively influence this great city's existing and established customs and traditions, such as the right of same-sex couples to adopt and care for children in need.""
1. The ban on homosexuality is much, much older than San Francisco. The Vatican has precedence.
2. It is an insult to all Americans when a rebellious city meddles with attempts to negatively influence this great nations's existing and established customs and traditions, SUCH AS THE FREEDOM TO WORSHIP (or not) AS YOU CHOOSE!
"Surely, this is a joke? How do they always manage to outdo themselves, time after time after time? Cardinal Levada isn't representing San Francisco, you morons; he is representing the doctrines of the Catholic Church to the world. Nor is the Church trying to "meddle" in your precious hedonistic, bacchanal "values, customs, and traditions"; it is only trying to promote what it believes is the truth. "
Exactly. They are trying to force catholic charities to defy catholic teaching by making them place children with same sex couples.
It is similar to attempts to force catholic hospitals to perform abortions and prescribe contraception.
If they want to place children in the homes of same sex couples, they should form their own adoption agency.
I'm guessing most mothers-to-be would prefer to work through the catholic agency.
Similarly, patients who go to a catholic hospital shouldn't expect an abortion, or a prescription for the pill. They can go to other hospitals for that.
And I apologize for my confusion. I am sleep deprived.
"Since when is the Vatican a country? Must have happened while I was sleeping."
Vatican City is considered to be an autonomous nation-state.
"If they want to place children in the homes of same sex couples, they should form their own adoption agency.

Yes, which is exactely why they won't do that, of course. They know they can't actually compete in the realm of ideas, so they try to either shut down the ideological competition or intimidate it into capitulating.
Of course this SF city government-approved public display is not offensive to anyone. They're just some dudes showing their "pride" and having some "bareback" fun. And the politicians fall all over themselves to get a prominent spot in the parade.

It would be instinctive for most biological mothers to think "I want my baby in a home with a mother and a father"
I would think the thought of a baby possibly winding up with a same sex couple would cause the mom to rethink adoption. It would lead to less babies for couples who want to adopt.
Me either, Mears. Yet they haven't had homosexual marriage forced on them yet either, while we have.
Someday, a move south is in order, hopefully.
Isn't it interesting that you signed up tomorrow but you felt compelled to burden us unwashed ignorant heathens with your brilliance today?
