Congressman Recognizes Biker Group

Kansas Congressman Jerry Moran wants his colleagues to recognize a bunch of bikers.
Moran has introduced a bill to honor the Patriot Guard, a national network of motorcyclists who turn out at funerals for US soldiers killed in Iraq to counter a Topeka church's protests.
The First-District Republican seeks to commend the group for shielding military families from funeral protests. The Westboro Baptist Church believes soldiers fighting in Iraq die because of God's anger at US tolerance of homosexuality.
Last year a small group of motorcyclists revved their engines and waved US flags to serve as a barrier between a fallen soldier's grieving family and protesters at a funeral in Mulvane, Kansas. Since then the group has grown to a nationwide network of tens of thousands.

The Patriot Guard deserve recognition for their action. That nut case leading the protests deserves a padded cell.

State governments are passing laws against protesting at funerals. I would think that protesting at funereals would fall comfortably into the "fighting words" exemption to free speech. It is incitement.
