WASHINGTON - The latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll might sound like a broken record, but the tune grows louder as congressional midterm elections get closer and closer: President Bush is once again facing the lowest job approval rating of his presidency, the lowest percentage of Americans who believe the country is headed in the right direction, and an electorate that greatly prefers a Democratic-controlled Congress over a Republican-controlled one.
Yet the poll also shows something else that goes beyond the November midterm elections: A strong majority believes Bush is experiencing a long-term setback from which hes unlikely to recover. Hes losing his grip on governance, says Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, who conducted this survey with Republican Bill McInturff. Its now a sense that weve seen the best that hes going to produce as president of the United States.
Despite this grim outlook for the Republican Party, it still holds advantages over Democrats albeit by narrower margins when it comes to Iraq and homeland security. And that could benefit Republicans in November, especially if national security issues dominate the landscape, as they did in 2002 and 2004.
According to the poll, only 37 percent approve of Bushs job performance his lowest mark ever in the survey. Thats a two-point drop since the last NBC/Journal poll, and a one-point decline from his previous low of 38 percent last November. In addition, just 26 percent believe the nation is headed in the right direction, a tie from the previous Bush administration low, which also occurred in November.

Ooohhh a poll. Watch out now...those are like, so true./sarc
The poll questioned a sampling of 1005 adults - 48% male, 52% female.
The POLLS are the big news every day.
Endless cycle: Media writes poll, conducts poll, spins poll, reports poll...
Sigh. Another day, another low.
Why does there seem to be such a subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) celebratory feel to these articles, not to mention these threads?
Well - that does it. I'm staying home this November.
Drive-by Media again.
IF ?????
Did not read...just stopped by with fingers in my ears, to say.....
LAA..LA..LAA..LA..DEEE..DOO..DA..DEE..LAA...not listening!
Looks like he's down to just the people that actually voted for him.
And it certainly doesn't help when the fricken media is running around shouting "The sky is falling"!
Yep, and how many Dems vs Pubs and Inds, probably 50 Dems vs 30 Pubs and 20 Inds.
Using their methods he could fall into negative numbers, a statistical impossibility....and yet the media would be dumb enough to report it.
Watch the movie "The Lord of The Flies". Bush is exactly like the gentle young man who although initially in control, loses everything because of a tendency to try to make friends with his enemies.
This doesn't work, never has, never will.
This movie is a standard standard military training tool.
He has failed to defend our borders, he seems to be more interested in letting Dubai operate our ports than in capturing OBL, he has not acted time and time again to defend himself (and therefore those of us who voted for him) against the barrage of scurrilous attacks by the democrats.
What we wanted was John Wayne, what we got was Pollyanna.
Maybe because the media is hoping that the Republicans go down next elections.
They spent four years trying to defeat him and he beat their asses.
More whining from the Dinosaur media.
BREAKING NEWS: A recently conducted poll by MSNBC, CBS, ABC, Wawshington Post, LA Times, New York Times, etc reveal that Bush's popularity is now 0%. Everyone, including George Sr., Barbara and even Laura disapprove of him. In fact, the internals show that his love/hate ratio is even worse....everyone in America, except Laura hates him.
Stay tuned for hourly updates on his poll numbers.
Proud graduates of our public schools.
Actually, it was a BRITISH corp. that made the deal with Dubai Ports. If you don't like it, take it up with the Brits. BTW, the deal had the company operated only the commercial aspects of the terminals, it wouldn't have owned the ports.
The Dubai Ports debacle will be what costs the Republicans control of Congress.
THIS JUST IN........BUSH'S NUMBERS ARE LOWER THAN THEY WERE 10 MINUTES AGO!!
This poll will affect Bush's re-election chances in 2008.
How's the Old York Times stock prices today?? Polls Schmolls, someone let the Stone Age Press know that BJ isn't President.
Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
Incoming poll trolls, LOL, saying the same thing for the 987,450,732,102 time!
IF YOU DON'T DEMAND THAT THOSE RECENTLY DE-CLASSIFIED DOCS FROM IRAQ GET EXPOSED AND IF YOU DON'T DEMAND THAT THOSE 120 PAGES REDACTED FROM THE BARRETT REPORT GET EXPOSED, YOU ALL DESERVE A DEM TAKE-OVER ON NOVEMBER...NOT TO MENTION A NEW PRESIDENT CLINTON IN '08!!
DON'T SAY YOU WEREN'T WARNED.
The funny thing is that it was a BRITISH corporation that made the damn deal with Dubai Ports in the first place. IMHO, people were reacting with only knee-jerk emotion to the matter without bothering to get the facts first. Besides, Dubai Ports World would have only been able to operate the COMMERICAL aspects of the ports, they wouldn't have owned the ports.
Looks like the MSM is smoking polls again.
We should demand that, but who do we contact?
Notice when the POLLS were POSITIVE they would be taken every MONTH or two.
However when they turn NEGATIVE they are taken every other day by each organisation and reported as Bush's approval ratings are at an ALL TIME LOW.
This is the 4th time in the past 9 days he has hit an all time low, all with different polsters.
Also NOTE that the RASMUSSEN Poll is ignored because they have him at 42%!
Except that, because of the deal, we will now have american companies directly controlling those 22 terminal operations.
Those who "hated" the deal said this was much better than having foreign companies control the terminals.
And before the deal, foreign companies controlled the terminals.
Because the President stood up to the democrats, and because the republicans were in control and therefore kept any FINAL votes from being taken to halt the deal, the deal went through, DP WOrld now owns the terminal contracts, and is going to sell them to an american company.
In November the republicans can run on having started the return of terminal operations to american hands, and point out that if Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton had been in charge, they would have simply rejected the deal, and P&O would still be in charge of the terminals.
Of course, the republicans could fail to capitalize on this turn of events.
Why doesn't the MSM just get it over with? I mean they already have a poll showing Bush's approval rating at 0. Stop dragging this out, just show us your poll where you peg him at 0.
The MSM is an absolute evil joke.
If you type in all caps, people will instantly believe what you write.
Your Senator.
Your Congressman.
The RNC.
The White House.
The RSCC.
I recently received solicitation letters from the RSCC and the RNC and i/o of money, I sent a note saying exactly this, "I will send a contribution when I see those 120 pages un-redacted from the Barrett Report."
Just evil. No joke.
This one time I believe caps are necessary.
It's almost inevitable that GOP will lose in '06 and Mrs. Bill Clinton will be our next President. If those prospects aren't enough to warrant CAPS, nothing is.
Real men do not care about polls! John Wayne never took one! Clint Eastwood never did one. And Jack Bauer could give a sh!t about them!
What you've got here is a bunch of overpaid newspaper guys that are dealing in "Poll of the Week" reporting. Print enough polls, and expect people to believe it. In all my years of being on earth, and of all the polls that have been taken, I can honestly say, I have never been asked to give answers to a survey on political questions. I'm thinking they are making this crap up. Or maybe that have one of those little square cardboard things used with games that have a little spinning arrow in the middle with some random numbers, all below 40%, and the are flicking away.
Over 250 Republican Congressman and Senators are running for reelection.
You mean... Bush might not... be re-elected?? *gasp*
Guess this kills his chance for another term.
Dismissive talk about getting elected again isn't helpful. If Dubya's low popularity makes for a dem House, or a dem Senate, or both, he will be knee deep in investigations for 2007 and beyond.
If the House turns dem they will impeach him. That keeps him distracted for most of 2007.
All the while the bad guys are out there, and the president's leadership will be weak.
Bush's low popularity and poor leadership make him a weak president. A weak president puts the nation in physicical danger. This is largely ofhis creation - an unpopular president can't lead, and right now he can't lead. And that's a serious problem.
***NEWS FLASH***
The latest poll for President Bush now indicates that he is in negative numbers.
If this trend continues it is expected to go to imaginary numbers by the weekend.
So sorry. The numbers are already imaginary.
I watched NBC Nightly News last night for the first time ever (down with a cold and too lazy to change it). Tim Russert actually called this "good news". Reminded me why I tuned these ass-clowns out years ago.
Oh yeah. Russert is really unbiased. (sarc off)

Help kill the propagandist MSM and Hollywood traitors. Cancel you newspaper and news-magazine subscriptions. If pollsters ask if you watch network or cable news tell them NO (even if you do). Buy no CDs, rent no movies, don't go to the movie theather. Download what you need, record it off the radio, borrow it from friends. Defund these frauds as much as possible.
