Yes, it's real. Some guy took to harassing bears for years on end (trying to "communne with them"), planted his tent in the well-worn path of a hungry old bear, who decided to eat them. Most who knew him were surprised he wasn't et sooner.

--- . . . but after 30 minutes, I wanted to scream "just eat him already!" ---
Reminds me of the story of a stage production of "The Diary of Anne Frank" where the lead actress was sooooo bad that at the point where the Germans burst into the building to search for her, the play's audience shouted, "She's in the attic!" to get it over with.

I watched this movie last week on Discovery. It affected me for a few days. I cannot fathom him telling those bears: "I love you Mr. Chocolate, I LOVE YOU!" The man was like a train wreck, you couldn't help but watch and every moment was more painful than the first. Perhaps the pilot who discovered his body said it best when he said Tim got exactly what he deserved. Timothy Treadwell, a liberals liberal till the end.
My brother worked those parks for the Forest Service. He never went any where without a gun and it saved his life when he encountered one of Tim's friends.

To see a picture of the killer bear check the end of Nick Jans article. Then click the picture of Mr. Snackwell. It's the second picture. Check out the paw size.

Sorry, it's not working anymore without logging in. The paw was huge.

"stupidity *should* be fatal"
So many of the life styles, the maggot infested liberals adopt are fatal. Thanks to the PC ness they have forced on them we are forced to:
1. Suffer through the boring replays of their fatalities as the MSM makes heroes out of dried up bear crap.
2. Often we have to pay for their health care when their life styles devastate their personal health like with drug addiction, idiotic vegetarism, and of course the final expensive few years of futile treatment of homosexuals with their self inflited HIV/AIDS.

ROTFLMAO!!!
To: WaterDragon; King Prout
It is not our suggestion here at Oregon Magazine that Timothy Treadwell should be prevented from volunteering himself as bear food, and so after a digestive interval, bear crap. ROTFLOL!!!

well, there's a reason I made the statement as phrased: "stupidity *should* be fatal"
the thing is, stupidity often IS fatal - but our society has somehow lost the understanding that it is entirely right for stupidity to be fatal - and, so, we have come to the silly pass you describe

Besides silly, it is amazing. I have a little fantasy that my Dad and Grandfather get to visit today's America (they have been dead for decades.), and they ask me what happened to the America they loved and fought for. They are not able to understand Political Correctness's and its mind numbing impact on America.

Now that's a funny article. I saw parts of Grizzly Man on the Discovery channel last weekend. Treadwell was such a shrill, vapid, self-absorbed, mental and emotional trainwreck that I couldn't stand to watch all of it. At first I was trying to be somewhat sympatetic to this disturbed wretch, but after 30 minutes, I wanted to scream "just eat him already!"I'm watching it now and feel the same way. What a nut case!
