"At any rate, my original question about how bakcers of free trade are at loggerheads with backers of WOT is unanswered."

Sorry you missed my answer. "The fight over port security vs trade is the start of a split between those who think our future depends on fighting Islam and those who think our future depends on free trade".

You mentioned that neo-cons support both the WOT and free-trade. Are all the neo-cons supporting the UAE in the port deal on the table? or is there a split?

Obviously someone left the computer room unlocked at the home. Pat snuck in and sent this one out. Why didn't you blame the Jews too Pat?

Sorry I wasn't clear. As long as there is any kind of trade, free or protected, port security is an issue. It is an issue whether or not there is a WOT. In addition, free trade is a weapon in the WOT, since people with economic interests in common don't normally fight with each other. So, free traders and terror warriors are natural allies.

OTH - if we want to have free trade, we are going to be in conflict with terrorists who are against any form of trade. Therefor, rather then conflict, there is a sympathy between the two groups. In addition, there are shared beliefs between isolationists and islamofascists that free trade and WOT are bad. It's not surprising that Buchanon sings the praises of islamic crazies as much as Al Jazeera.

Kind of like asking,"... if we are in a "long war" against Islamofascism and homeland security is our highest priority, why are U.S. troops invading Quebec and making those frogs speak English."

Kind of like asking,"... if we are in a "long war" against Islamofascism and homeland security is our highest priority, why are U.S. troops not invading Quebec and making those frogs speak English."

If there were no State of Israel in the Mideast filled with Jews, Buchanan wouldnt be drawing a line out there, we cant make the Arabs angry, blahblahblah. He would care less. His whole neocon hatred is a camoflauge for his other bugaboo.

Oh, and he'd start a war with Mexico in a second if he could, IMO. So its not like hes a pacifist. Hes just incoherent.

I didn't see this article by Buchanan. Maybe you can cite the article where you got the opinion that Buchanan 'sings the praises of islamic crazies....'

You seem to think that only Buchanan is against the UAE in our ports. We'll see.

I was thinking particularly of his recent column about contiuing our support of Palestine now that they are controled by Hamas. Another recent column excoriated the US for taking out the Al Quida in Pakistan. I'm sure there are many others, but I find it rather painful to read him.

BTW - I haven't said anything in favor of the Port Deal. I simply don't think that you can use it to prove a conflict between free trade supporters and WOT supporters.

He's pretty coherent when it comes to "the jews" aka trotskyites.

I disagree. Do you think all Arabs are the same?

This is coming from an idiot who thinks that the WOT is a worthless adventure too.

At least the Bush family has WON an election for something. And at least they weren't fired from the Reagan administration either.....
