This poll is not even close to being reasonable in the sample selection:
UNWEIGHTED
Total Respondents 1018
Total Republicans 272 27%
Total Democrats 409 40%
Total Independents 337 33%
WEIGHTED
Total Respondents 1018
Total Republicans 289 28%
Total Democrats 381 37%
Total Independents 348 34%
In the Nov. 2004 election, the split was even between Dems and Repubs. This poll gives the Dems a 32% advantage (based on 28% Repub and 37% Dem of Total Pop).
As long as the Dems keep believing these faulty polls they will continue to be disappointed on election day.

His ratings are higher than the media's ratings with the public. They have hit rock bottom with no signs of improving. Heck, the medias ratings with the public are lower than lawyers and brokers. No one trusts the media anymore.

Haha! I love the MSM.
You can always tell when the seething, idiot liberals are about to wet themselves. The entire thing is comical.

He literally couldn't give a rat's a** about polls. He should.
If he sinks the GOP in the 2006 elections, he will have an impeachment on his hands. A Dem House WILL impeach him for something, and the MSM will intone how serious and grave the allegations are.
He will then be distracted by impeachment proceedings (and a trial that would be unsuccessful) for much of 2007, distracted from the rest of the world's events.
The President's low popularity is a serious problem, even if Freepers cavalierly dismiss it. He doesn't have the political stroke right now do do anything against Iran, for example. To the extent they become a more severe danger, he can't muster support if his polls are in the low to mid 30s.
He better turn this around and fast.

No matter how hard CBS or any other poll taker tries to make Bush seem unpopular, he's still going to be president.
But, even I, would urge him to resign when his poll number get into at least the minus 20s.

Yep, he'll probably not stand a chance at re-election.Child, it means if the Dems nominate someone like Warner he WILL be the next president. The party of an unpopular president WILL lose the next election. Ask Truman and Nixon.

History is a harsh mistress. I for one don't expect (mostly liberal/leftist) historians to look back at the Bush years as a wonderful, exciting time.
They give grudging respect to Reagan because his results are difficult to argue with. Bush's results may be easier to argue against if he leaves the Mid East a mess and he limps out of office as an unpopular and ineffective president.
Anybody expecting historians to take a shine to Dubya hasn't been paying attention.

But, the election is still a long way off; furthermore, I don't put any credence in any poll sponsored by old media.

Bingo. Better to overestimate the importance of this poll than dismiss it. He's taking flak for the ports deal and it was bound to reflect in some poll. The only saving our asses is that the democrats are clowns. That may not last forever.

Don't try blaming the President for the spineless leadership in the Senate and House; that is why those two bodies are totally disfuntional and of no use.
If the GOP losses it's their fault, not the Presidents.
