You're most welcome, ETOM, DG, and CWO.
Good evening to y'all and back to the trenches.
One of a kind. I'm it and there ain't no more, so enjoy, while I'm still willing to be nice to you...lol.
antaresequity, thanks for the post, and all your hard work , lots of good information. I have it bookmarked.
I suppose when Dubai has their sites up and doesn't provide this information, we will hear about how "secretive" Dubai is.
Cosco, Maersk, Yang Ming, Evergreen, SSA and others all in the USA and around the world. None are US owned.
WOW, thank you so much!
For the 'finding'...its amazing what you can learn and share if you just take the time to dig a bit...
You and CWO and others have helped me by being open minded...
Thanks...
Thanks Mike
Adding a link to a related story on the port topic. It doesn't appear to be posted as a thread yet.
Why Dubai is good for US business

Excerpt:
Dubai Ports World is exactly the kind of bridge the US needs to the Muslim world.
By Mansoor Ijaz
LONDON In the battle of hearts and minds that defines America's struggle to combat terrorism, the emotional eruption from US politicians in the past week over the proposed takeover of six key American ports by a Dubai company is a big step backward for US national security. It is a uniquely un-American reaction that assumes the worst of an important Arab ally, pronounces its guilt, and seeks to paint its companies as enemies without one shred of evidence.
I started to gather those facts on Saturday - quickly came to the conclusion that this "deal" is just so much insider ball, and has no security ramifications. You've really done yeoman's work here and are to be thanked for it.
Thank you for taking the time to make the hard work it took to do this worthwhile...by recognizing it...
If only a few folks welcome the 'facts' for use in intelligent discussion then it was worth it...
Happy Friday...
Despite the emotional blather that has been around these days...
Where else can you go to a whole lot of trouble and make it mean somthing?
Hats off to JR and FR...
Excellent research, antaresequity; saved to my port file. Thanks for the ping, onyx.
Hi mystery-ak
Here is info that I posted on another thread. hope this helps...
Here are some of the leading Container Operators that have bases at ports in the USA. (excluding DP World and P&O)
APM Terminals - Part of the AP Moller - Maersk Group with corporate headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark. North American Global Terminals include: Baltimore, Charleston, Houston, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, Oakland, Port Elizabeth, Port Everglades, Portsmouth, Savannah, Tacoma
China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company (aka COSCO) - the national flag carrier of the People's Republic of China. Headquartered in Shanghai. USA Terminals include: Port Newark/Elizabeth Marine Complex, Baltimore, Charleston, Houston, Long Beach, Miami, New Orleans, Norfolk, Oakland, Savannah, Seattle.
APL - wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore-based Neptune Orient Lines. Services to North America include the ports of New York, Los Angeles, Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.
Hanjin - ports in United States include Boston, Charleston, Long Beach, New York, Norfolk, Oakland, Portland, Savannah, Seattle, Wilmington, Port Everglades/Miami.
Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) - wholly owned subsidiary of Orient Overseas (International) Limited (OOIL) based in Hong Kong. Dedicated terminals at Long Beach Container Terminal in California, Global Terminal in New York and New Jersey, Howland Hook in New York.
Evergreen Marine Com - Taiwan based. American ports include Baltimore, Boston, Charleston, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Portland, Savannah, Seattle. Officially opened a new state of the art Pierce County Container Terminal at the Port of Tacoma in Jan 2005.
Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) - based in Geneva Switzerland. US Ports include Boston, New York, Baltimore, Norfolk.
Mitsui OSK Lines - based in Tokyo Japan. Ports in the USA include New York, Baltimore, Charleston, Savannah, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Seattle.
NYK Line - Japanese based. Also includes Ceres Container Terminals, Nippon Container Terminals, NYK Terminals in North America, Yusen Terminals.
Grand Alliance - includes Hapag-Lloyd Container Line (HLCL), MISC Berhad, Nippon Ysen Kaisha and OOCL. Restructured their services following the phasing out of the Maersk-acquired P&O Nedlloyd vessels. Ports of service include: New York, Charleston, New Orleans, Houston, Miami, Seattle, Savannah
There was not one single US based company on the list of 23 Terminal Container Operators. Many of the companies do have US offices despite being based in a foreign country. So when you hear about an Arab takeover at our ports, you need to remind people that Japan, Switzerland and China already have their feet in the door.
If 'hope' was gold...beggars would be kings...
Foreign participation in port operations has been and will stay for the near (decade) terms...
Myopia is not a province in Egypt...
