Specter's stance in this one issue doesn't mitigate his overall belief system. Yes, he is a catalyst in the political process, but I foresee trouble in the future if Bush attempts to replace Justices Stevens or Ginsurg with another avowedly pro-life justice. Then, and only then, I think you will see the true stripes of Arlen. Btw...I hope I'm wrong, but I don't have a good feeling about him.

You've only stated what most of us have atleast thought in our minds.
Be careful what you wish for. The problem that I see is that if we get Roe, what will we lose in personal freedoms thereafter? I don't like abortion, but I don't mind slipping on a condom to protect myself. And I don't want the government tracking my internet use and phone calls. Why are we so happy about a justice who seems to lean towards restricting our rights and having the government intrude on our lives?
