Any of these two women would push right through the bunch of socialist liberals on Capital Hill, just like Roberts and Alito.

I cannot, for the life of me, see Miers being able to do the same.

I truly believe they BELIEVE Frist when he says he'll go constitutional on them for a change.

They (Gang of 14 Republicans) knew better than to test him.

Specter's stance in this one issue doesn't mitigate his overall belief system. Yes, he is a catalyst in the political process, but I foresee trouble in the future if Bush attempts to replace Justices Stevens or Ginsurg with another avowedly pro-life justice. Then, and only then, I think you will see the true stripes of Arlen. Btw...I hope I'm wrong, but I don't have a good feeling about him.

I always said, going back years, that Secter is no idealist and has no real set of convictions or loyalty to any kind of principles.

He is a politician first, and sometimes, a good one.

He wants his chairmanship of the judicial committee, anything that could endanger that, he would and did fight (even smacking Ted Kennedy during the hearings).

He had oppurtunity after oppurtunity to sabotage both Roberts and Alito.

He may not want roe vs wade overturned, but simply put, I doubt he gives it more then a few minuits thought in a month.

His legacy, could wind up being steering not just 2, but 3 or more justices throught the committee and onto the SCOTUS.

Linc doesn't think it's time to retire. Like the honest dems he thinks he's owed his job for life (or longer in Byrd's case.) Maybe he's afraid Laffey will win the GOP primary and is auditioning for a mid election party switch. So what if he's not running in the Dem primary. I'm sure he could get the bid under NJ rules if the token Rat in the primary slips below Laffey in the polls.

Has Souter discovered his judicial rest room philosophy yet?

You've got me there! I agree that these judges will be interpreting the Constitution, and not church law.
I got to thinking about my statement and the various religions that I am familar with and I have to take that statement back. Shari's law would certainly be at odds with the Constitution. Evangelium Vitae #2267 is at odds with the interpretation of the Constitution.
Thanks for enlightening me!

Certainly. But a more modern interpretation of the Quran wouldn't be any less compatible than Christianity. After all, the Quran is just a rip-off of the Bible with some Arabian ideas thrown in.
