MEXICO CITY (AP) - A Mexican government commission said Thursday it will suspend plans to distribute border maps to migrants planning to cross the border illegally.

Miguel Angel Paredes, the spokesman for the federal Human Rights Commission, said the decision was ... because human rights officials in border states expressed concern that the maps would show anti-immigrant groups where migrants were likely to gather.

"...concern that the maps would show anti-immigrant groups where migrants were likely to gather."

I was so outraged at this story, that I hadn't thought of the positive ramifications.

Actually, I think we should SUE Greyhound for transporting illegal aliens: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1564949/posts

No, that would be a Phoenix phone book. Most of the border crossings are now in Arizona and Phoenix has become a third world city.

Why don't they just construct a lighted highway? The American taxpayer would be happy to fund it. American politicians could man welcome booths where they would hand out identity cards, driver licenses and social security checks.

I say distribute the maps as long as we have immigration vans waiting for them.

I'd be surprised if those maps aren't
being printed and distributed as far
from the border as Chicago.

Whats up any way with Mexico? How come things are so crappy there a guy want s to put his life in danger to cross the border and only end up with a job washing dishes in some hot kitchen for like 2 bucks per hour and sleep in an ally? I wouldn't do it.

Mexico does this and I suspect the US allows it for this reason.

Mexico uses illegal immigration as a pressure release valve to bleed off poor male workers from their society. Without it there would be a revolution in mexico, and a revolution on our border. That is why I suspect the US allows this to go on.

Bingo! Cheap labor and a stable political state next door. A win-win for the tax and spend political culture in the US.

Sounds familiar doesn't it. The US has been practicing this policy in Central America since WWII. What is new is offering refuge for the third world's political rabble in such massive numbers.

We used to just give them guns. Now we give them a home and unfettered access to our publicly financed, social, safety net. A win-win for the new generation of economic despots we prop up.

The Mexican peso is officially worth less than a US dime. A dishwasher gets meals. If he can also sleep for free, that is just more money to send back to Mexico. Repatriated US earnings are a huge portion of Mexico's GDP. Immigration also gets rid of those who would join a revolution. Win-win for the Mexican elites.

I don't know what I would do if I were a Mexican peasant. Two of my grandparents came here legally 100 years ago, as teenagers in steerage from Russia. The other two took two babies (Grandma was also pregnant) in steerage from Riga to Argentina. They were in their 20s. They lived and worked there for 9 years until they could get sponsorship and a job here, which allowed them to immigrate legally to the US. They didn't talk much about "the old country" or about Argentina, except to say "It is better here". Hard times seems to be a motivating factor to immigrate even in the 21st century.
