Tonight on the Jonathon Batchelor Show on ABC the guest was John Loftis. He claims to have a CD of over 12 hours of tape recorded conversations from 1988 to 2002 of Saddam Hussein, Tariz Aziz and 30 to 40 other Iraqi leaders talking about WMDs, how they hid them from the UN and a whole host of other tidbits.
Loftis said the CD has been validated by the NSA as genuine. He would not go into specifics, only that he called it the BIGGEST STORY OF THE YEAR and will release it on February 18th at the Intelligence Forum in Washington, D.C.
He said he was very skeptical at first believing the informatino is just "too good to be true" and would totally exonerate the Bush Administration. He obtained the disc from a source in the intelligence community. He had it verified by the NSA and they confirmed it is Azia and Hussein's voices. The theory is that Hussein wire tapped his own conversations much like Nixon and Johnson did and was going to either put this in a book or use it to thumb his nose at the world by showing them how easy it was too hood-wink the West over WMD.
Apparently there are more tapes / CDs available as this particular one has 12 hours of random conversations, some more than an hour long and some only 10 or 15 minutes long over a 14 year period.
Anyone else hear this tonight? I look forward to the 18th of February.
This right after that Iraqi general says WMD sent to Syria?
Hmmmm, is this another area Bush is finally hitting back on?
Missed Batchelor tonight. Probably true. Loftis has issues though. He's like Debka. When he's right, he's right. When he's wrong, he's on Pluto howlin' at the moon.
You always should remember that if it helps the Bush admin. it gets put on the last page of a newspaper, and if your lucky, maybe get a 15 second mention of it on CNN. Once!
tick, tick, tick.... I can hardly wait until February 18th. Nothing like b*tch slapping the dems again with the truth.
It does look like Bush & Company are enjoying playing some offense for a change. Thank God they found a playbook!
There was a former Iraqi general on Hannity & Colmes tonight saying they hid the WMD in Syria and Jordan. RAT thug bob beckel was subbing for colmes, and had nothing to say.
Oh what the hey, is there anything at all to this story?
Bush, the poker player is giving watchers a peek at one, and only one, of his cards.
Democrats....wise not to raise!
One could rest easy at night while your critics made complete fools of themselves...
Batchelor asked Loftis if there is anything on the CD / Tapes about other countries. Loftis said "YES" and they name which nation states the WMD were hidden in, but he would not reveal the names.
Sorry for the spelling typos in the original. It should have said Tariq Aziz.
This is going to be interesting.
The one on Hannity & Colmes tonight?
A twofer and I missed it!
I am glad the WMD thing is finally being reported. I'm sick of hearing that argument!
I would say this "source" is in a heap of trouble.
If the NSA "evaluated the audio" and found it to be authentic, then that means the NSA did not know about it. If the NSA is not the source, then who/what department is? I just don't see some CIA (or other) "source" just giving this type of data to a talk show host. Something does not seem right here.
I don't see how this could be the "biggest story" claim since any fair-minded person knows Iraq had WMDs since they used chemical weapons. We gave them one year advance notice that we are coming so they had one year to move the stuff to Syria or other.
Only the RATs refuse to acknowledge the obvious.
February 18th be damned!!! Bush needs to play this in his State of the Union Speech if he wants to get the information out there. Then Scott McClellan needs to make this the focus of his next 64 daily press conferences.
He's had the playbook all along. Bush is just playing poker. You will never see his all cards until he folds his hand on Jan. 20th, 2009.

The Bush Administration needs no "exoneration."
Saddam hussein shot at U.S. war planes enforcing the UN no-fly zones over Iraq. That's an act of war.
Hussein paid rewards to the families of suicide bombers in Israel, our ally.
Hussein violated the terms of his 1991 Gulf War Surrender Agreement. Again, an act of war.
Hussein housed and fed noted terrorists in Iraq for years prior to 2003 (e.g. Abu Abbas and Abu Nidal...both of whom died in Iraq).
And the U.S. Congress said that we could use force to rectify all of the above.
We don't need some tape recording to tell us that we were right. We already know it.
I have heard similar stories like this before, and as always I will believe it when I see it.
PING!!
And with the help of a few "friends" Saddam got all the money he needed...
Appointee linked to Iraq kickbacks
By Marian Wilkinson National Security Editor
January 26, 2006
A BUSINESSMAN appointed by the Howard Government to the US-led occupation government in Iraq personally sanctioned kickbacks to Saddam Hussein's regime, according to evidence uncovered by the inquiry into the oil-for-food scandal.
Trevor Flugge, the former chairman of the wheat exporter, AWB, was named in an internal AWB email dated September 2002 which describes a scheme to evade UN sanctions on Iraq by funnelling money to Saddam's regime through a London company called Ronly Holdings.
The email, written by AWB's head of international sales and marketing, Michael Long, said that Mr Flugge and another AWB executive "were aware of the deal and sanctioned it".

Yes, I heard it!!!! Wow - hope this pans out. It sounds like the real thing, I certainly hope so. I never miss John Batchelor.

O you bet! If this is true, they basically let the Democrats destroy themselves for next 30 years.

Tariz Aziz
That former Iraqi General(?) official(?) on Hannity seemed very very creditable - in command of his facts and unhesitant to tell what he knows.
Beckel didn't have anything to offer because he was stunned - he saw the basis for the primary Democrat charge against Bush dissolving before his eyes. Sweet sight.
DUmmie suicides predicted if true
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
ping!
Entirely feasible to do, when your critics are complete fools.
I smell a Rovian operation. LoL!
I would LOVE to see these fools and @'oles destroy themselves for the next 30 years.
Far, FAR better seeing them destroy themselves for the next 30 years, than watching them destroy the country for the next 30.
I didn't hear about this, but did anyone see H&C tonite? A former general says that yes, stuff was moved to Syria, just as suspected. Why now, though? Why didn't we hear from this guy earlier? I know there are many things we don't hear about. I'm just wondering.
There are several threads on FR about this ...It is to be released at a conference in Febuary
Correct. I never had a doubt that Saddam hid his WMD program and WMD assets from the world up to this day.
Oh, let's hope so!
If it sounds too good to be true...
Note to self: read replies to post first. =)
I doubt they're there any more.
Maybe something to shut the democrats up about for the next week leading up to the SOTU and Confirmation of Alito. I guess that would be true if the mdia would actually be interested in this story. Wonder how much coverage this will get? It is always great to see the democrats making total complete fools of themselves.
We don't need any more proof. Anyone who can't see that Saddam didn't have enough time to take his stuff somewhere is blind as a mole. He used the stuff for pete's sake. How could he use stuff he didn't have?
I mean this whole thing is a joke. A canard set up by the MSM and repeated enough to create lollipop land.
Info will be released at a non poltical forum...
Rope a Dope been a comin?
Exactly right - Those who keep thinking that we "need" the WMD proof to "prove" something are completely falling for a false premise to begin with -
We removed Saddam and his regime because they were a threat. Period.
al Qeade did not have WMDs....but would anyone seriously try and deny that they weren't a threat? Of course not.
Our actions to remove Saddam and begin the phase of bringing the values of freedom and self-worth to the heart of the ME were exactly right and the World is safer because of it.
The idea that this guy has "CD/Tapes" with "all" the proof begs one to "wait and see". My experience tells me he seems to be more concerned with "hyping" something then worried about finding out the actual truth.
Additionally if these discussions on these tapes (1988-2002) are talks regarding Saddam's (already known) earlier WMDs program (late 80's, early 90's)...then there is no new information here.
But again, Southack has it exactly right (above).
"The Israeli officer, Lieutenant General Moshe Yaalon, asserted that Saddam spirited his chemical weapons out of the country on the eve of the war. "He transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria," General Yaalon told The New York Sun over dinner in New York on Tuesday night. "No one went to Syria to find it."
'snip'
"An article in the Fall 2005 Middle East Quarterly reports that in an appearance on Israel's Channel 2 on December 23, 2002, Israel's prime minister, Ariel Sharon stated, "Chemical and biological weapons which Saddam is endeavoring to conceal have been moved from Iraq to Syria." The allegation was denied by the Syrian government at the time as "completely untrue," and it attracted scant American press attention, coming as it did on the eve of the Christmas holiday."

I would agree to all of that, and add that we certainly had all the justification needed to invade Iraq. We need no further justification, but it sure would be nice to locate any stockpiles, and also the missing Russian explosive materials that I believe Moscow retrieved just prior to the first bomb dropping. There was a lot of stuff missing that was tagged during the inspections. It has never turned up, from what I can understand.
There was likely some chemical/bio munitions with that stuff as well, which would explain the chem/bio suits and atropine pens.
Liberals are always moving the goalposts for the administration. If it's ever proven that Iraq had WMDs, they would fall back on saying that Iraq wasn't planning to attack the US with them. And if that were ever proven, I'm sure the lib talking points would just fall back onto the next excuse down the line.
Unfortunately their propaganda has worked enough that a good 35% of the country at least wouldn't support the president even if he cured cancer and found a way to transmute all metals into gold. They just hate his guts.

The good thing about internet technology is that this stuff will be all over the web for everyone to hear.
