Q: How does a lefty media maven know when he's gone off the deep end?
A. When even fellow liberal Jane Hall laughs at him.
Neal Gabler should take the lesson to heart, because that's exactly what happened to him on tonight's Fox Media Watch.
The subject matter was the media's handling of Hillary Clinton's Plantation Declaration. Jane began with a surprisingly candid assessment of Clinton and her presidential ambitions:
"She's clearly running for President and I think the media should quit going around that fact. She's tiptoeing around that fact. The question I have was whether this was spontaneous or planned. She's been so planned - that's what she's been known for. If she reached for the race card, then that's a different context."
That's when Gabler weighed in with his risible notion that the MSM is dominated by . . . conservative spin.
"What we see here in the media coverage is the same old story. The MSM taking Republican spin points and just retailing them. It's one size fits all. If Al Gore gives a speech, if Howard Dean gives a speech, if Ray Nagin gives a speech, or if Hillary Clinton gives a speech, 'they're crazy, they're out of control, they're nuts!'"
Hey Neal, if the strait-jacket fits, wear it.
Jane tried to interject "but she [Clinton] is the one who [made the comments], Neal."
Gabler wouldn't be silenced: "Let me address that. What Hillary Clinton said - Google that, see how many Republicans including Newt Gingrich [have spoken of a plantation]."
That's when Jane literally laughed in Gabler's face as she sarcastically replied: "before a black audience on Martin Luther King Day?"
Neal, having Jane Hall laugh at you and your arguments about conservative media bias is the equivalent of a 5th-grader having his mother walk out on his piano recital. Time for reflection, Mr. Gabler.
Fox News Watch/NewsBusters ping to Today show ping list.
Looks like Cal Thomas shaved off his 'stache.
Makes him look younger!
Neal Gabler is a joke.
Neal Gabler is a sick joke.
Thanks for the laugh!
He also closed out that segment saying something similar to Republicans have no right to say anything since they have been against civil rights since the get go. Im amazed how so many liberals are allowed to say such slanderous things and not criticized.
And the longer they keep him on the show .. the more kooky and goofy the dems/libs look and sound.
Fine with me!
A few days after her plantation rant she was on a rant about us making sure Iran is disarmed. That the President has downplayed the seriousness of the Iranian situation.
That was her pander to the jews in NY.
Is there any group left that needs a pander?
Could be called the insanity hour.
Jane thought she too was defending Hillary when she explained to the panel. Jane said, the plantation remark was not part of Hillary's scripted speech, it came in response to a tough question from the audience. Jane might be right, I heard someone else explain it the same way, as if that makes Hillary's poor choice of words more forgiveable.
But it exposes something even worse. Hillary's inability to think on her feet. Without a script, the woman is a loose cannon. She's not ready for prime time, and will never be, has none of Bill's skills. An audience member challenged Hillary and her first impulse was to go into attack mode, to deflect criticism from herself.
When I heard the replay of Hillary saying, "And you know what I'm talkin bout", I laugh! Tucker Carlson called it Hillary's impression of Al Sharpton.
An hour? No need for that much time.
We'll just call it the "Two Minute Hate".

Burns introduces him as "media writer Neil Gabler". What the
hell is a media writer? The rest of the bunch seem to have
honest jobs.
Actually, Jane was agnostic on the issue of whether Hillary's remark was spontaneous or planned.
She did suggest it might have been an off-the-cuff response to a question, but then added: "but if she reached for the race card, then that's a different context."
LOL - great work!!!
Cause Simon Legree just won't let her!!!!!!
I always thought he looked creepy with the mustache....glad he shaved it off...I really did not recognize him at first
Post of the Month!
... she just makes a statement. In the first statement she qualifies it with "I don't believe." Which means she can justify the accusation by saying, it was my belief, not a statement of fact. Another statement is "Some believe..." Another is "It's very hard to tell people..." She is quite the lawyer isn't she.
Soccer moms, Oprah moms.
Look for Bill to be caught in a compromising position with some bimbo, maybe by one of the tabloids. She can then divorce the cad, go on Oprah and get her "victim card" punched again.
I prefer your take on Jane to mine.
I wish Newswatch had a regular segment, "Lies of the Week"
Like Al Sharpton telling Chris Matthews Hillary's plantation remark was not made inside a Harlem church.
Like Chris Matthews saying Laura Bush claimed to speak for God, just like Mayor Nagin and Pat Robertson did.
That has potential for Lie of the Year.

"MATTHEWS: Thank you, David Shuster. For more on the comments made by Senator Clinton on Martin Luther King Day, we turn to Reverend Al Sharpton and to Ron Christie, hes a former special assistant to President Bush and author of a book called Black in the White House: Life Inside George Bushs West Wing. Reverend Sharpton, you were there.
REV. AL SHARPTON, NATIONAL ACTION NETWORK: I hosted the event.
MATTHEWS: Were you happy with her remarks?
SHARPTON: Not only was I happy, let me straighten something out. She did not make the comments at a Harlem church, she made it at our organization, National Action Network has a policy forum. "
I have read somewhere here at FR that there was NO QUESTON preceeding her plantation remark. Does anyone have the transcript or a tape?
Neil Gobbler is a nobody who's been nowhere and done nothing. Why he isn't super-sizing fries at a Mickey D's somewhere is beyond me. Not often you encounter hateful liberal media bigotry as thinly veiled as you find with this diminutive runt.
I wont watch that show simply because of Gabler being on it.
All smart lawyers are good liars. The basic skill is to ask questions and make statements which definitively mislead and deceive without actually being flatly false declarative sentences. But they are lies, no question. Without them the legal system would collapse and we would have to settle for justice instead.

Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my FoxFan list. *Warning: This can be a high-volume ping list at times.
Thanks for the report, governsleastgovernsbest. Sounds like it was a great moment to watch.
If he seriously thinks the MSM is full of conservative spin, then he needs more than reflection.
he looked great! i was astounded. i told xshub not to get any ideas, i would divorce him, if he shaved his off.
Thanks, syriacus. It really was something to see Jane literally laugh at Gabler as she sarcastically 'dissed' his theory.
Could be called the insanity hour.
So many great replies on this thread, but this one is LOL funny. Thanks :)
Other than Jack Cafferty I can't think of a single dunce on any other channel.
Matthews is in a category of his own so he doesn't count.
Ouch.
Neil Gabler has been out of control for a very long time now and it became progressively more pronounced over the Christmas issue when he was trashing O'Reilly and Gibson for their War on Christmas fight.
I must say that I do. Of course I disagree with much of what Juan has to say, but I find him knowledgeable and at ease with himself. In contrast, Phillips seems ill-informed and uncomfortable.
sw
Cal Thomas has always looked (IMO) like the floor manager in the "Are You Being Served" TV show.
I guess we are not going to hear a lot about nuance with Hillary.
Especialy with the Botox treatment around his eyes and forehead. Notice, no wrinkles? Move over Greta!
That whole SHOW is a joke.
