That's not right either.

Its unclear EXACTLY who Rockford celled with during his entire five years, but there is at least one episode where it is clear that he did it with one guy at some point:

75/02/14
CHARLIE HARRIS AT LARGE
T: Zekial Marko
S: John Thomas James [15]
D: Russ Mayberry [2]
Rockford's former prison cellmate (...)

Martin and Gandy were both guys he was with in the joint. Any references to either being an actual cellmate are lazy assumptions from those that watched minimal episodes.

Trust me. I've seen every episode multiple times. Its one of my favorite all time series. I have the first season DVD (just watched an episode tonight) and am anxiously awaiting future releases.

Anybody out there remember - "I stand Accused"

Isaac did a 20 minute version on one of his albums. It was before Shaft by a couple of years.

"I stand accused of loving you."

"It's almost like being in quicksand, the more you struggle the deeper you sink"

I too have seen every Rockford at least 5 times. I absolutely love that show and I will watch every episode 5 more times before I leave this mortal coil.

Anyways, I certainly trust you on the cellmate thing, but Angel sounds right to me - - I wouldn't bet the farm on it, but something rings a bell. Anyways, here's another show bio that refers to Angel as Rockford's cellmate. It's the second story I have read that makes that reference::

Jim Rockford

How the heck does one get hospitalized for exhaustion? I'd really like to know. And how do you get any rest in the hospital? They bug the crap out of you every couple of hours.

Would my insurance cover it?!? LOL!

I wish him well. It seems to be a real hospital, and not some Scientologist center, that will help.
