Does anyone know how I can ping Alabama people?
I'll be there in spirit.
Go get 'em!
So, do you think Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are going to get married?
You mean, to each other?
Dunno. But if they don't, there will a few blokes more than happy to follow-up Ms. Kidman!
I heard they were an item. :-)
Two Aussie find love in the States.
Back to the topic at hand!! Does anyone know how I can ping the Alabama folks?
I don't live in Alabama, but if I did, I'd vote for Roy Moore. Not because of the ten commandments thing, but because Riley deserves to get thrown out on his butt by republicans for that attempted massive tax increase.
Anyone have any idea what Roy's chances are???
He's a West Point graduate, so I'll bet his chances are good. You go, Roy! Get Alabama back on the right track...
Sadly I am hearing that his chances are not that great. He and Riley are going to be going at it even, and all the major newspapers are already running stories and photos that make Judge Moore look like a nut.
The candidate to watch out for is Lucy Baxley. She's getting all the positive press and all the great photos in the newspapers here.
It's all propaganda, but things like that do change the mind of folks who don't really follow the issues. (She a Dem.)
Thanks for the update. I still hope he wins. Alabama needs somebody that make sense...
You know...It may be that having one the confederate battle flags up in the corner, of his name flag, causes people to think he's really radical, so they'll just deal with the other radical, Lucy whatever...
Very nice, too...and a man and a woman as well!
1. Go to the "Forum" page.
2. Look in the upper right corner and see Home | Forum | New posts to you | Mail | More ...
3. Click on "More". It will open to a list of options.
4. Scroll down and click on "My Locale". It will open to a list of states.
5. Click on "Alabama". It will open to a message board for your state. Everyone who has opted to receive Alabama messages will see your message next time they open the forum.
6. In case you don't want to take any chances, look at the top of that Alabama message board and click on the link for Members List. It will open a list of every screen name registered to Alabama, by city. This should help you set up a ping list.
BTW, when Moore spoke in Maryland a couple of years ago, he got a rousing, foot-stomping reception from a packed auditorium. But he was appearing under the auspices of the Constitution Party leader, Mike Peroutka. So it remains to be seen whether he has the strategic acumen and luck to go big time.
The Rebel flag is not a radical symbol in the deep south, nor should it be.
I don't think that is Judge Moore's official bumper sticker.

She's a woman. What this nation needs, what it is crying out for is more men who can and are willing to lead.
The feminist social experiment is a flop.

LOL.

Margaret Thatcher was one great woman who came to rule because the men were pansies and wusses.
What does Britain have to offer now?
Men have been emasculated.
The women we see replacing them, are for the most part, worse.
They ought to be home taking care of their families and helping their husbands.
One smooth swing from the passionate Cuban is noted.
That post gets an award for the day. Keep them barefoot and in the kitchen. That's the ticket.
You must be a big hit on blind dates.
"The Rebel flag is not a radical symbol in the deep south, nor should it be."
Believe me, I am quite aware of that. Go to my website, www.leesdaughter.com and read the info-please. Anyway, many today, do regard it as such simply because of the many misunderstandings that have been passed down through the years. I am fully aware of ALL it stands for, as I had a GGGrandfather in the Civil War, and am quite pleased with this fact. He was wounded in battle 3x, sent home to convalesce, and returned to battle each time. I never meant to offend anyone with my posting, just wanted to add a possible reason for the election problem that was occurring.
Are you her?
You base this on what? Personal opinion? Yours?
I live here and I would vote for him.
Well that and years of experience in politics, tough I will say that any place that elected George Wallace governor, could possibly elect Moore.
And unless you're the lead psychic in Dionne Warwick's network of friends working a direct line to the Great Galactic Mushroom, yours is solely a personal opinion as well...and quite possibly not even as qualified as mine.
You mean like the same "men" who are raising our taxes every year to record levels, like Riley the chamelon.
We are constantly griping about the unconstitutional abuses perpetrated by the Federal Courts, but when some state politician tells the Federal Courts to go pound sand, we turn on him? What's the deal?
A complaint was filed in a US Federal Court accusing Moore of violating the Establishment Clause of the US Constitution, this was a suit filed by a citizen against an elected official of his State.
Here's the Constitution:
Article III, Section 2 -- The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority;--to all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls;
The case "arose" as it were, under the Constitution insofar as it alleged a violation of the Establishment Clause, and it affected a "Public Minister"...Roy Moore.
Last but not least, the actual order executed when Roy's rock was removed was issued not by the Federal Court, but by the remaining justices of the Alabama Supreme Court, in accordance to Alabama laws.
"our civil rights have no dependance on our religious opinions, any more than our opinions in physics or geometry; that therefore the proscribing any citizen as unworthy the public confidence by laying upon him an incapacity of being called to offices of trust and emolument, unless he profess or renounce this or that religious opinion, is depriving him injuriously of those privileges and advantages to which, in common with his fellow citizens, he has a natural right; that it tends also to corrupt the principles of that very religion it is meant to encourage, by bribing, with a monopoly of worldly honours and emoluments, those who will externally profess and conform to it; that though indeed these are criminal who do not withstand such temptation, yet neither are those innocent who lay the bait in their way; that the opinions of men are not the object of civil government, nor under its jurisdiction; that to suffer the civil magistrate to intrude his powers into the field of opinion and to restrain the profession or propagation of principles on supposition of their ill tendency is a dangerous falacy, which at once destroys all religious liberty, because he being of course judge of that tendency will make his opinions the rule of judgment, and approve or condemn the sentiments of others only as they shall square with or differ from his own; -- Thomas Jefferson's Bill for Establishing Religious Freedom in Virginia.
Alabama State Constitution:
"SECTION 3 Religious freedom. That no religion shall be established by law; that no preference shall be given by law to any religious sect, society, denomination, or mode of worship; that no one shall be compelled by law to attend any place of worship; nor to pay any tithes, taxes, or other rate for building or repairing any place of worship, or for maintaining any minister or ministry; that no religious test shall be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under this state; and that the civil rights, privileges, and capacities of any citizen shall not be in any manner affected by his religious principles.
Roy Moore:
""The monument serves to remind the appellate courts and judges of the circuit and district courts of this state and members of the bar who appear before them as well as the people of Alabama who visit the Alabama Judicial Building of the truth stated in the preamble of the Alabama Constitution that in order to establish justice we must invoke 'the favor and guidance of Almighty God,'"
Roy violated his own State's Constitution.
The Rebel flag is not a radical symbol in the deep south, nor should it be.
I have never talked to a black conservative who actually said something positive about the confederate flag . I mean supporting states rights to fly whatever they choose...sure.. But actually say even a tiny word positive about that symbol of hate...never. Why not focus on conservative issues instead of symbolism ?
Come out here to South Carolina. It is not all that unusual to see an African American either wearing some some sort of clothing with the flag on it, and it is not the least bit unusual to see an African American sitting and eating a meal with a white person wearing the flag.
As to your second point, it is a point of Southern pride. Not everything needs to revolve around politics or conservtaive issues. I don't know why you insist on referring to it as a symbol of hate, either. If you view it that way, fine, it is your right, but you should not make judgments about the flag or the people who value it.
If you don't like it, there is one simple way to avoid it: Stay out of the South.
BTW., the last thing you want is for the Republican Party to come out in opposition of our right to fly that flag. You will see just how quickly you lose the South, and then you can say goodbye to ever winning another election.
OK, I see what you are saying. You could be right.
Thank you. The Southern people are the very LAST people I would ever want to offend. You people are to be applauded for many, many things.
As i said before I support a states right to fly whatever flag it chooses. But is it really necessary to emphasize it in a campaign sticker ? I accept your accounts of Blacks actually wearing rebel clothing ... Must have a lot to do with them having a public school education.
I'm not saying it is necessary to emhasize it in a campaign sticker, I'm just saying it is not necessarily a negative thing to do so. And you will never change my mind about the Rebel Flag, nor the millions of people who value it. It is only a negative thing if you want it to be.
