By Maria J. Flora Editor

A Linden woman was jailed Wednesday after hitting her husband and attacking their car with a wrench, police said.

Debbie Miller, 48, was not charged with damaging the car because she owned it jointly with Edward Miller, Crawfordsville Police Lt. Harvey Barton said, adding, “It’s not against the law to tear up your own vehicle.”

The Millers separated in May and Debbie has been unable to contact Edward since, Barton said. She saw him about 3:30 p.m. in Crawfordsville and followed him into the Sears parking lot.

“She just happened to run into him and wanted to talk about taxes and he made a face at her,” Barton said.

Police said Debbie, weighing in at 98 pounds, emerged from her vehicle wielding a wrench. She shattered the car’s taillight then whacked Edward in the stomach when he got out, Barton said. Edward sought shelter in the store while Debbie continued hitting the car with the 12-inch adjustable wrench, witnesses said.

Bystanders subdued her until officers arrived. Barton said he handcuffed Debbie and secured her in his cruiser with a seatbelt. When he went to assess the damaged car, she fled the cruiser and ran into Sears. She was grabbing for a broomstick when Barton stopped her, he said.

Barton will share information with Montgomery County Prosecutor Joseph Buser for consideration of formal charges of battery and escape.

“In regards to her fleeing the squad car,” Crawfordsville Police Chief Kurt Knecht said, “I’ll review the facts once all the officers’ reports are finalized to determine whether proper procedures were followed.”

Whoohooo! More marital follies!

But, "it's not against the law to tear up your own vehicle"--at least in Indiana.

Nope, just don't make an insurance claim against it and you can do anything you want to it.

continued hitting the car with the 12-inch adjustable wrench,

Ok, we know it was SAE, but was it left or right handed?

No doubt preplanned for her escape.

Interesting: Assault with a deadly weapon constitutes "doing well"?

You've revealed a lot about yourself.

All of it bad.

It could have been a 304.8 millimeter adjustable wrench too.

From the article;

Police said Debbie, weighing in at 98 pounds

If he wasn't enough a man to take a wrench from a tiny woman and slap her stupid rear too the ground where she belonged, he deserves what she gives him.

-----------------------------------

She was not even in trouble with the law until she ran from custody-

Police Lt. Harvey Barton said, adding, “It’s not against the law to tear up your own vehicle.”

-----------------------------------

Even though she did, she'll probably skate on the escaping custody charge:

“In regards to her fleeing the squad car,” Crawfordsville Police Chief Kurt Knecht said, “I’ll review the facts once all the officers’ reports are finalized to determine whether proper procedures were followed.”

(The cops screwed up...police procedure says you MUST secure the prisoner BEFORE you walk away from the vehicle.)

-----------------------------------

Now all she's got to worry about is the judge......and he/she will probably say

"You couldn't take a wrench away from a 98 pound woman? "

So, maybe she's not in that much trouble after all!

Same to ya...except anyone who takes umbrage at a flippant comment is more, well, worthless, IMHO

So you're justifying aggravated assault, because she's smaller?

Lady, when you're at the bottom of a hole, stop digging.

So you're justifying him being a coward, because he's bigger?

She may be 98lbs, but when you are a man in modern day USA, you know that the full violent force of the fedgov will come down on your head if you "slap her rear".

Its cute and quaint to ridicule men when this happens, but men on the receiving end of the full brute force of government retaliation (brought to you by your friendly feminazis) don't think anything is "cute" about it.

The guy wasn't afraid of her you ninny, he was afraid of the government.

Chowderheads who can't see are too dumb to post things here.
