"Technically, Dean is correct. " BINGO! You are correct. And something about the thinkin' behind this arrangement stinks! Was it a play for Jack to say to the Repubs, "Better protect me guys!" Smells like blackmail to me!

They probably knew better than to ask that question. They DIDN'T want to know.
I guess they assumed was a bagman, just as Lyndon Johnson was the bagman for Texas oilmen. It was this money that brought Johnson into his leadship position in the Democratic Party. That, not his "charming" personality.
