This individual and his minions are a leftist (or perhaps secular humanist- who can tell the difference?) parody of the "religious right", intended to make people of faith appear to be moonbats.
God loves the sinner (you and me, folks) and hates only the sin.

How many people belong to this "church"?

I have heard maybe 100, well over half his family. "Church" is in his basement. Google Fred Phelps. There is a lot out there.

I still don't know how something that important, and seemingly easy to remember, could be forgotten.

It happens every year in Vancouver, BC. People go for a day hike in mountains just a short drive from the city and get totally lost. It seems that most times their instinct is to go down the mountain instead of up when a bearing or marker is missed. In Vancouver if one walks up, pretty soon one can spot the skyline of the city!

A couple of years ago Phelps got a wild hair up his ass against the newly elected president of Finland. While a happily heterosexual herself, apparently at one time she had been legal counsel for a Finnish gay and lesbian organization. He stated that he and his flock were headed for Finland to protest her and to burn the Finnish Flag in front of Parliament. Turns out that Fred's grasp of the Finnish legal system wasn't as good as his knowledge of U.S. law because the Finnish government pointed out that burning the flag would leave him open to charges of treason, Finnish veterans groups were threatening violence, Finnish hackers trashed the Westboro Baptist website, and the Finnish police flat out said that they could not, or would not guarantee Phelps' safety. If only the West Virginia police were so open. Or, perhaps, so blind as the Finnish police.

That is like smiling and hugging David Duke. At least Phelps has never been elected as a Democrat. Were that the same could be said about Duke and the GOP.

"Many a "person" has disappeared into the hills and were never heard from again too. Funny how they can get so lost in those mountains." It is the bears. They are very dangerous.

It is time that he gets exposed for what he is, a hatemonger hiding behind a religious name. I guess America's "progressives" are in a quandary about denouncing him because they are so anti-military that they do not object to his group desecrating military funerals.

Indeed.
He needs to be brought down. I have to believe that there is a way to do that within the law. On another thread I raised the question of why he is not charged with disruption a religious service.

I have a big plastic spray tank for my farm, I have thought if they try this crap in my neck of the woods, I can put it in the back of my pickup full of nice cold water with a five horse pump and a fire hose and see if how they like protesting wet in the cold.

Samuel Clemons (aka Mrak Twain) once said: "You know in all my world travels I've seen all manner of things done to my fellow man in the name of God. Come to think on it if what they were doing was truly in the name of God.. why they wouldn't have been doing it in the first place."

They should stay out of West Virginia. The poor families have been through enough. Someone might snap.
