The chairman of a state Senate committee investigating voting irregularities says it might take two to three weeks to make a final recommendation on whether Ophelia Ford should be seated in the Senate.
But Chairman Mike Williams says he'll ask in the interim that Ford take the seat provisionally.
Ford won a special election by 13 votes to replace her brother, former Senator John Ford, who resigned after being indicted in a federal public corruption case.
Williams noted the need for more information before making a final recommendation.
Republican challenger Terry Roland is contesting the election outcome and his attorney says they've found irregularities including at least two votes cast in the names of dead people, several convicted felons and one person who didn't live in the district.

Is there a Ford in your future?
There's Tennessee; then there's "that end of the state".
Who in their right mind would vote for the sister of someone who just been indicted for corruption?
How dumb are some people?
Memphis is a cross between Chicago and New Orleans.
The 'Pubs need to pursue this to the hilt. And with a great deal of publicity. Democrat vote fraud must be stamped out as an infestation of evil in our society.
Yep. Poor, ignorant, naive, and corrupt. But there IS always hope.
Dead people vote all the time in Philadelphia PA.
Come on now folks. You have to have votes to win elections, and it is even more necessary if you are replacing a corrupt family member.
What's wrong with dead voters? They are the 'yellow dog' Democrats. And they spend a lot of money.
After all, you can't take it with you.
"Who in their right mind would vote for the sister of someone who just been indicted for corruption?"
The same people who would vote for him again if he could still run, and that includes dead people.
When the likes of Howard Dean, Teddy Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Durbin, Hillary!, Schumer, etc.etc., puke, puke, can be elected, I'd say a lot of voters are pretty darn dumb indeed!;)
Birds of a feather----ETC.
There is, and it has good food & music, too.
I wonder if we can just go ahead and give Memphis to Mississippi?
"Dead people vote all the time in Philadelphia PA."
Also in Chicago, St. Louis, NY, etc., in fact any so called "Democratic" area of the country.
The "Demon-crits" are masters of voter fraud and theft. With them, the end always justifies the means. The Dims are totally corrupt liars, thieves and cheats and always have been.
I'd imagine that my city of Pittsburgh PA has its share of "six feet under" voters.
And St Louis.

Yep. 8AM, 10AM, 2PM, 4PM, 7PM, then at 9 they bitch that they were disenfranchised.
99% turnout at polling places observed to have far less that 20% actually show up at the polls. But don't videotape, or request ID, 'cause that will keep 'em from turning out.
Isn't John Ford the uncle of Harold Ford, Don Imus' favorite young rising star in the democrat party?
Mary Poppins voted in Ohio in '04.
"Isn't John Ford the uncle of Harold Ford, Don Imus' favorite young rising star in the democrat party?"
Yes he is, and the brother of former congressman Harold Ford, Sr. who, obviously, is the father of the current senatorial candidate in tennessee, the afore mentioned fav of Don Imus.
bump
bttt
How right you are! And the particular region is not only at the rump end, it's 'up about excrement high'.
We've been trying to give Memphis to Arkansas forever but they won't take it. Memphis is the armpit of Tennessee. I passed through there one time and swore I would NEVER go back. Memphis is not an example of what Tennesseans are really like.
This is what scares me when folks talk about Ford Jr as being a reasonable, moderate to conservative kind of democrat. There is no one in his extended political family who could even teach him to be anything but a thug. Why anyone would suspect that this acorn fell far from the tree is beyond me.
The only Ford that hasn't been in the news for corruption is "Tennesee Eernie Ford" and he has a good excuse since he died in 1991.
Not only will she vote on legislation even ethics legislation, but 2 of the ones caught in Op Tennessee Waltz will be doing so also..bowers and crutchfild will be doing so too.
Years ago, Georgia sued Tennessee, claiming that Chattanooga actually belonged to them. In Nashville, the consensus was that we should let them have Chattanooga if they took Memphis, too.
LOL, Chattanooga is bad but not hardly as bad as Memphis. I live 30 minutes from Chattanooga and go there only if I must. I prefer shopping in Knoxville but don't care much for either of the four big cities. I can see how Georgia thinks part of Chattanooga belongs to them. I've lived here most of my life and can't tell where one ends and the other begins.
