The War on Beer (ZOT!!! Try Our Delicious Troll in Beer Batter)
Seattle P-I ^

Posted on 01/06/2006 10:07:15 AM PST by Its a Culture War

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A state senator wants to force Missouri stores to sell warm beer. Under a bill by Sen. Bill Alter, grocery and convenience stores would risk losing their liquor licenses if they sold beer colder than 60 degrees. The intent is to cut down on drunken driving by making it less tempting to pop open a beer after leaving the store.

"The only reason why beer would need to be cold is so that it can be consumed right away," Alter, who has been a police offer for more than 20 years, said Thursday.

Have you ever killed a beer just to watch it die?

Welcome to FR, for what will no doubt be a short stay.

C'mon, that's just dumb.

Never fear. Only lagers should be drank ice cold anyway. There is always ales, which even though 60 degrees is slightly warm for ales (they should be served at 45-50 degrees) they would still probably be palletable. Yet this country doesn't need more laws local or otherwise restricting beer consumption. What we need is a purity law like Germany, so breweries stop selling watery crap.

WHAT IS OUR EXIT STRATEGY IN THE WAR ON BEER?

That question is best directed at Captain Morgan.

Must be trying to extort political money from Anheuser-Busch (when you say bud... you said a lot of things nobody else can say...)

There has got to be a good "Bud Light Salutes Real Men Of Genius" add for this one.

RMOG Salutes you Bill Alter, Mr. Warm Beer Sales in Beer Mecca

I agree. They want to take away everthing sacred. I mean first it was tobacco, then Jesus Christ, then good food like a cheeseburger and fries and now beer.

We need to revolt or something. Everyone at 8:00 on Friday night (tonight) pop open a beer in retaliation of this stupid proposal. You know it used to be that someone could come up with a stupid proposal and people would just laugh and it would go away. Now they become laws.

Plus, in college I had quite a few warm beers. I would imagine many have in their lives.

so would this fascist retard make it illegal to sell the warm beer to European tourists that are visiting the state? Europeans always drink their beer at room temperature and while we are on the subject would he make cold cups a felony to possess in your car? you know the kind that you keep in the freezer that will turn any warm liquid cold really fast

That question is best directed at Captain Morgan.

Lately, he's been letting Suznne speak for him.

I wonder if there will be a law against cold Coke and ice cubes?

Some places around me you pay extra for cold . Never really thought about the reason, but I'm guessing it's because they can. You need it in a hurry you are willing to pay the premium.
