I recall a story form several years back where a lottery winner attempted to donate some of his winnings to the Salvation Army. And they refused the offer, which is their right.

I think youd find most denominations steeped in the holiness movement (my own included) accused of reacting in similar fashion

It's not what I was thinking (not an actual injunction i.e. "don't put your trust in the roll of the dice"), but Psalm 30 is often comes to my mind whenever I think becoming suddenly wealthy will solve all my problems :)
