A DRUNKEN 18-year-old who streaked through a Christmas Eve mass has been ordered to perform community service at a church.
Shaun Edward Mackley admitted entering the Alice Springs Catholic church naked, running up the aisle and jumping on to the altar during a December 24 mass attended by about 250 worshippers.
Mackley pleaded guilty to disturbing religious worship in the Alice Springs Magistrate Court yesterday.
His lawyer, Russell Goldflam, said the incident was a drunken, spontaneous prank, ABC reported.
Magistrate Michael Carey sentenced Mackley to 200 hours of community service, recommending it be performed in or around the Catholic church.

I'm betting the only thing Santa brought this clown was a good belting when the congregation got him outside.

Streaking has a time & place....church is definitely NOT the place.

..personally I think streaking should be punished by allowing the streaking to streak a prison yard.
I betcha his times improve.

Probably making something out of nothing here, but why was this not a "hate crime"?
The idiot didn't run through the local Elks Club, it wasn't a Rotary Club Meeting, it was a Catholic church. It wasn't off hours when the church was empty, it wasn't a run-of-the-mill daily mass, it was Christmas Eve when the church was packed, for maximum effect.
It was a premeditated attack on a congregation of worshippers. The guy meant to do it, planned to do it, thought it out and did it.
200 hours of community service is a joke, the guy got off light.

""Mackley pleaded guilty to disturbing religious worship in the Alice Springs Magistrate Court yesterday.""
This guy could have brought his homosexual partner and made a spectacle of himself by a long drawn out kiss in front of the Catholic congregation instead. One of MA's demented legislators did just that, and the left put him in office. No arrest.

...and he was only 18, where's the underage drinking charge? Where's the public drunkenness? Trespassing? Indecent exposure? Disorderly conduct?
I recommend a public caning.

Shaun, if alcohol makes you get naked, run up the aisle of a church, climb up on the altar and shake your thing...that's probably kind of messed up.

I spoke to my co-worker in Melbourne today. All he could do was go on and on about some 5 day cricket match!
No blood? No Zamboni? What kind of sport is this anyway?

Yeah...we haven't avoided the follow-on as yet. Ponting made a century, but some of the others are just duds.
I can't believe how quickly that Sydney wicket can turn. We had South Africa on toast here in Melbourne, but they've come right back at us over the past couple of days. It's a real worry!!!
Now, Dashy, you were saying...? :)

I remember as a young Police Officer in the 70's a call came out that a streaker was at Denny's Restaurant and a dispatch was needed. A fellow officer radioed back for more info and we were told it was a male streaker. I turned my cruiser around and headed out as far as I could before giving my location and by that time I was the furthest away and "my assistance wasn't needed"...WHEW!
