If Gore had won in 2000... we wouldn't have a freely-elected government in Afghanistan and we would NEVER have seen a free Iraq. We would still be threatening the Islamo-fascists with court-action as we lamented the frequency of mall-explosions at the same time.

If Kerry had won in 2004, he would have pulled out of Iraq the day after his inauguration... and the Dems would've finally gotten the civil-war they(and the MSM) had always hoped for.

What is being done today by NSA or the CIA depends on whether you are interested in saving the lives of your family and friends or if you are a self-loathing person with a death wish. Nit picking stuff like this comes from those who hate themselves so deeply that they have a secret desire to be killed and end their miserable lives.

Anyone with a healthy survial instinct can only say "Go GW, do what has to be done!"

Don't ever forget that our federal legislature is usually composed of about 90% lawyers, who have an automatic conflict of interest in that the more laws there are and the more complicated those laws are the more money they and their courthouse cronies will make. Guess who's money it is that they want.

McCain's "anti-torture" amendment does deserve a second look, wonder WHO he was trying to protect? Who could it be under investigation for leaking classified intel? At least now with that amendment they won't be subjected to "torture".

While I have always supported McLame's military service to this country, I would not be surprised to see this RINO name on the current DOJ investigation list. I would hate to see Pubbies go down in this investigation (Congresscritters are immune) but I want whomever leaked and published to go to prison no matter which party they are affiliated with.

Did the "anti-torture" law affect one iota what law enforcement in this country can do to suspected criminals?

It depends on what you mean by torture. If torture is defined as any activity which puts pressure on a suspect to provide information, then it has affected it greatly. The issue is not torture as everyone thinks of torture, IE: pulling out fingernails, beatings, electric prods, etc. The issue is, can you use such methods such as sleep deprivation, continuous lights, threats of turning the individual over to countries that do torture, insinuation that things might go bad if the person doesn't talk? If those methods are outlawed the terrorists will never provide us with information.

McCain's Amendment was to limit what we can do to "enemy combatants" who do not qualify under the Geneva Conventions. It has no effect on what law enforcement can do against other suspected criminals in this country, including those suspected of high treason. They are all protected by the Fifth Amendment.
