"You can call me anything you want, but do not call me a racist," said an indignant President George Bush on Dec. 12, commenting on the despicable, opportunistic suggestion that any inadequacies in the federal response to Hurricane Katrina were due to racism.
But veteran network media giants Ted Koppel and Tom Brokaw don't quite see it that way. Indeed, they don't appear to see eye-to-eye with President Bush on much of anything if their joint interview with Tim Russert on NBC's "Meet the Press" is any indication.
Russert was uncharacteristically tame toward these two, offering them repeated softballs concerning the past year's main stories. But the relaxed atmosphere gave us a clearer picture of the worldview these men share, which is doubtless representative of most of the Old Media players. From race and taxes to health care and Iraq, they spoke in a monolithic liberal voice, accented by its familiar air of moral superiority.

I was rather surprised when I saw this on TV. This was more overt than usual.
I wonder if anyone can compute how many TV "News" shows this year were journalists interviewing other journalists. Larry King seemed to constantly be hosting journalists. Last two times I saw Russert he had Maureen Dowd and the the Brokaw/Koppel CF.
Russert hasn't pitched anything BUT softballs to every Lib on his show, ever since he was caught up in the Plame-Blame-Game
"A network guy interviewing network guys."
Scripted news readers, reading scripts ... famous for being famous.
"I wonder if anyone can compute how many TV "News" shows this year were journalists interviewing other journalists."
Who else wants to listen to them?
Cruise vs. Lauer, I'm still laughing.
The MSM that can't exist and prosper in a free-market economy has it's days numbered.
In a way you have to feel bad for them. There is a need for them to pontificate.(sarcasm)
In the last ten Presidential elections (1968 to 2004) their candidates have only won three times. A very bad record for alledgedly power people.
Incestuous and out of touch. Brokaw doesn't even really know about most people's health care. I live with poor seniors and we have health care coming out of our ears ! Tell Alfie. That what it is all about--health care.
Then Koppel eagerly chimed in, "Or to pay a nickel more in taxes."
How predictable, the progressive liberal knee jerk: there's nothing that more taxes won't fix.
"I like to call them Olds Media in honor of George Will's analysis"
Nice segue to Chappaquiddick, as well.
Well, good riddance to both of those hacks. Looking back at Russerts coverage of the news over the past year I can say he has completely stopped trying to hide his liberal background. When Russert started he tried hard to be objective now he is another fever swamp victim. I stopped Tivoing Russert months ago, time to switch to Chris Wallace.
I saw this. I barfed. I turned the channel to something else.
Isn't Ted Koppel the guy who stated that most of our soldiers and Marines in Iraq were poor kids that were unable to get deferrments?
Being President was their first choice of vocation, but acting like self-important people anyway, is kinda the "I Want to be President" reality show for talking heads.
All three of them and Shroud too. They are all
close-set beady eyed liberal lying rats.
and *aging* old lying liberal rats, at that.
You can verify this at your leisure by Googling ' ''Pauline Kael'' +''I don't know a single person'' '.
You will not find a similar response if you substitute McGrory.
