Put Wesley and Kerrey together and you get Kerley or Werrey.
I suspected at the time that the left would take out Tillman for the expected anti-wot propaganda value. If they did, then this would be the typical "beat them to the accusation" tactic that they use habitually.
"beat them to the accusation
Say that phrase real fast and it provides a more realistic picture.
There is general agreement that Tillman was killed in a friendly fire incident. Unfortunately, from time to time that happens. The rest of it is complete out of left field, and I don't believe a word of it without seeing some better evidence than this creep.
"painted by dutiful media whores like Ann Coulter."
How nice.
After joining up, however, they weren't shipped off to Afghanistan, where they believed terrorists were holed up, but to Iraq to fight in a newly minted war that didn't exist when they signed away control of their lives ... he returned from Afghanistan, where he eventually wound up after serving his tour in Iraq.
This article is confusing. I'm still skeptical.
Where does it say that? Pls quote.
Ann Coulter is a media whore?!!
That don't make a lick of sense.
The Pentagon, as it did with the Jessica Lynch story. . . .
I'll have to depend upon my memory to dispute this employee of Buffalo State College's story. Though registered I now find it difficult to access W-P stories.
The Pentagon never presented Private Lynch as a hero. A couple of employees of The Washington Post splashed the story of her "fighting to the death" on the front pages based upon a female army officer's feeeeeeling that that is what happened. No one knew at the time the real story.
As far as the Tillman family's tragic loss I can only say that if you are doing heroic things and tragically die by "friendly fire" it does not subtract from your heroism, IMO.
Not getting a consistent story out of the Pentagon does torment the Tillman family. But to say the confusion was intentional is wrong, IMO.
One thing that struck me about searching for info on the story was the use of the word "fratricide" -- a word that the employee of Buffalo State College jumped on given the word's conotation.
I did manage to get access to one old W-P story. The "news" article used the word fratricide. "Friendly" fire is bad enough -- but fratricide?! Why not "fragging" or is that too Viet Nam?
A quick search for info on the employee of Buffalo State College suggests to me that he is not without an agenda.
Now his typings make sense.
Tillman's parents have been very outspoken. And they did, if the SF Chronicle isn't lying, confirm he was going to meet with Chomsky.
He may well have had a pending meeting but it doesn't change that fact that he wasn't the only one hit.
The Afghan interpreter next to Tillman was also killed (who happened to be without a helmet).
Didn't read thru all the responses so this may be a repeat ... a professor of journalism from a obscure upstate NY (blue state) college is pushing a new BS theory that Tillman was a anti-Bush liberal serving in harms way ... yeah right, give me a f***ing break.
Yes. There were two other soldiers injured. One came very close to being a KIA also. According to the story in the SF news the most damaging statements have been made by the soldier who was discharged due tot he incident.
Notice how Scott Ritter also changed his tune "big time" after he was given a big wad by Iraq....
Um, the Army said it was fratricide... er, Pat's brother was in the same platoon....do you think? Naw, can't be.
Sounds more like the Soldier who got the ax is trying to cover his backside and blame someone else.
"After joining up, however, they weren't shipped off to Afghanistan, where they believed terrorists were holed up, but to Iraq to fight in a newly minted war that didn't exist when they signed away control of their lives."
He died in Afghanistan...pls read the article.
There are controversial points in the article...but it CLEARLY states he died in Afghanistan.
...sheesh...
