Hey gang,
This may have been brought up here before and some how I missed it, but can anyone tell me %wise of how much of the promised tsunami relief aid -- esp. the cash money --was actually delivered? A ballpark figure is all I'm looking for.
Regards,

Less than 2/3 from the figures I've seen.
By light of day, do you mean the Mercedes dealership in Banda Aceh ?

thinking of her as a human being"
Reality = If the media is saying 2/3, then you can bet they are aware it is being reported at around 50% which means the chances are good that more like 40% (or even less) was applied to actual relief and recovery.
I recently saw a news piece with aid workers tossing boxes of dehydrated food stuff to hoards of people. The voice over said that thanks to the fund raising efforts of Bill Clinton the storm raveged region has received OVER ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS in aid.
$100K ? Give me a break. You can damn well bet Clinton's first junket to survey the scene, press the flesh and have young girls dance for him set the effort back at least 1/4 million before his pals started taking commissions.
What does a chartered 747 cost?

From the Canadian Govt. as I understand, the amount delivered was $0. Thats even less in US dollars I think...JFK
According to an article on Drudge, The UN had something in the neighborhood of $590 million for tsunami relief. In the same article, it states that approximately 1/3rd of the money went to "administrative" costs.
The victims got the same amount they received from the CBC. They collected $400,000 and have not dispersed one dime.
