Reds threaten to attack US troops

LUCENA CITY, Quezon -- Departing from their usual relatively open celebration, communist cadres and members of the New People's Army marked the 37th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) yesterday amid tight security around guerrilla camps and vigilance against possible attacks.
They also aired a warning of possible assaults on American troops in the country and threatening attacks against the government.
In a statement, the CPP criticized the US military for increasing intervention in the Philippines and urged militants to take steps to deter the US from "further plundering" the country.
It called on its armed wing, the NPA, to "study and learn in advance how to inflict casualties on US military personnel" and said the rebels should look forward to "the glorious opportunity" of avenging the deaths of Filipinos killed during the 1898 to 1946 US occupation.
The rebels -- which Washington has blacklisted as a terrorist group -- have Print this story Send this story Write the editor Reprint this article View other stories
stepped up their attacks in recent months, killing several Filipino soldiers and wounding dozens more in land mine assaults.
There have been no known attacks on American soldiers.
US troops have been providing counterterrorism training, weapons and military equipment to Filipino troops battling suspected terrorists and insurgents since 2002, when US special forces allied with the Philippine military to rescue three Americans kidnapped by the al-Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf extremist group in the southern Philippines.
Communist rebels have said Washington's counterterrorism training also intends to wipe them out. They have warned US troops to stay away from their rural strongholds.
But the rebels said they are on alert for attacks from the government.
"I can't just simply accommodate outside visitors, even journalists who want to cover our anniversary celebration. We have to observe strict security measures to guard against possible enemy attacks," communist spokesperson Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal said in a mobile phone interview.
He added that rebels knew that government forces would do everything to disrupt the celebrations, either through harassment or actual attacks.
"But we're ready for them," Rosal declared.
Both sides have traditionally declared a lull in fighting during the Christmas holidays to rest their troops and allow the only Christian nation in Southeast Asia to celebrate the season in peace.
But communist guerrillas this year disdained to declare a ceasefire, saying they saw no reason for the move. For its part, the Arroyo administration ordered a suspension of military offensives from December 24 to 12 midnight of December 25 and from December 31 to 12 midnight of January 1.
Yesterday, a senior police official said the insurgents were merely waging psychological warfare in inviting police and military offices to join up in ousting the administration.
"It's just psy-war; they do that every year to show that they are still around," said police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Leopoldo Bataoil, as he laughed off the idea that police officers would actually be willing to ally themselves with communist rebels.

" Communist rebels have said Washington's counter terrorism training also intends to wipe them out. " .......
This sounds reminiscent of the MSM crying about how the US is treating the terrorist and having sympathy for them because the US wants to wipe out the Islamic terrorist.
It's not even a question who the MSM will side with in the Philippines.

And this dunce conveniently forgets about the " Forced Rule " that they were under for 400 years by their SPANISH occupiers.
I guess they forget that is was the USA that built up their infrastructure, gave them the English language as their instructional language, freed them from their Spanish oppressors, built up their economy, and was ready to give them their independence when the time was right.
However as history tell us, unfortunately WWII broke out and Japan occupied the Philippines.
The USA after WWII wanted to help the Philippines ONCE AGAIN get them back on their own 2 feet
but ?
They were to inpatient to have their independence ( and that is one of the reasons why they are in the mess they are in today ).
Another reason they are in the mess they are in today is the rule of Marcos, and the current corruption that is pervasive in their government today.

That's quite a revisionist blurb of history these communists are spreading. Sounds just the Democrats.
I suppose we could have left the place under Japanese occupation, seems they would have preferred that.

Most Filipinos love Americans, and are very very greatful in what we have done for them.
Some of them even go far as to say, they nickname the Philippines as ( Little America ) they are so proud of having assosiation with us Americans ( they truly know who their true friends, and protecters are ).
To make words blink ?
OK,, I hope this works on this page.
First, you have to type left ( < ) arrow, the word ( Blink ) then, right ( > ) arrow
Then the words you want to have blinking
Then, left ( < ) arrow, forward ( / ) slash, ( the word Blink ) then, right ( > ) arrow.

It has more to do with the US Congress I think.
Everytime there is a Philippine appropriation coming up, the HUKS show up to menace the countryside and increase the funding.

For some reason, blink command doesn't work here anymore (or in OutLook Express)

Look for IED's to start popping up. It may be a coward's way to fight, but it's a pretty surefire way to maim/kill people.

The <BLINK> tag isn't generally supported anyumore. I think the only browser that supported that one was an old version of Netscape.

The Philippines became a country TWICE because of the US. From 1898-1902 over 4000 soldiers died there.

I remember a movie that was made back in 1945 called the ( Back to Bataan , with John Wayne ).
In the movie there was a very old Filipino man, who, were, the Japanese told him to take the USA flag down from the flag pole next to the Filipino school.
The old Filipino man refused to take the American flag down, and the Japaneses hung him to death on that flag pole.
I don't know how accurate that movie was, but, I am sure during WWII that there were many Filipinos who loved America, and were committed to America, and our values.

They should have shot him right then and there.
