The Talk Shows
Sunday, December 25th, 2005
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; musician Wynton Marsalis; and Sen. David Vitter, R-La.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Former "NBC Nightly News" anchor Tom Brokaw and former ABC "Nightline" anchor Ted Koppel.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): CBS News correspondents review 2005 and a look ahead at 2006.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Former Secretary of State Colin Powell and author Peggy Noonan.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : No broadcast.
Your Christmas presents: No Biden, McCain, Hagel, Lindsey Graham, Levin, Shumer, Lugar or former Clinton administration spinning shills!!!!
Don't bother with MTP. I have it on now and it's no more than a self-serving discussion amongst the dinasaur media.
Thanks an a merry Christmas to you Alas Babylon!
Just coudln't bleieve Timmy's rehash of katrina. All the stories they are talking about have been DISPROVED! This is just unbelievable. I had to turn it off.
Exactly. I thought Tim's comeback would be that "we got the facts wrong" after that first clip but NO; more discussion on how the Bush administration failed.
I very much dislike the uber-partisan Tim Russert. The hunched over, frowning, stern-voiced grilling of republicans versus the leaned backed, smiling, open armed softball-ladened questioning of democrats Mr. Russert.
Russert, if you or any of your minions are reading this, you're not fooling us!
So, bottom line.... I can easily believe it!!!!
This is a hoot...I wanted to watch ABC..to see/hear Peggy Noonan...but in NY..flagship ABC isn't showing Georgie's show today..they pulled it for a Disney movie..
Where's McVain?
His make-up man must have the day off.
This was his big chance to be on 4 talk shows in the same day.
BTW, I've noticed that MSNBC and MTP seem to spend more and more time interviewing other media people. Why not talk to the Newsmakers?
Oh well, to anyone who watches the shows today, thanks. You deserve a FR medal.
Thanks for the thread, AB. I have to wait an hour before I get FNS, so I am freeping and listening to Fox & Friends - casual today - no ties.
Merry Christmas Alas and thanks for this thread as always
I'm surprised Biden didn't volunteer to do all the shows today.
Oh Fox and Friends..... I was also just listening. They reported a poll that showed republicans overwhelmingly believe in God and democrats are much less likely to. Julian remarked, "Oh, I don't believe that poll. It's nonsense." I turned the TV off.
Julian doesn't like the results, so he chooses not to believe THIS poll. The same polling firm shows Bush at 37%, and according to Julian it's a very bad omen for the President.
WOW! I didn't realize we were going to have this thread today!! YAY!!
I finally get to hang out with ya'll on Sunday thread again..last month has been CRAZY!
BUT- Turkey is stuffed and in the oven, kids are playing with new toys, and MOM gets to hang out on FREEP! AWESOME CHRISTMAS!
PRAISE GOD!
MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HANUKKAH TO ALL!!!
Merry Christmas, AB
Merry Christmas, AB & All!
I, too , wanted to watch Peggy and also found the show pulled on our local northern MN station for a Disney promo. Just as well...Christmas music on the radio is a fine substitute until the grandchildren arrive in an hour or two. Far preferable to Timmie, Tommie, & Ted.
Have you seen the prayer thread for snugs? She lost her mum today.
Oops, I'll bring my Merry Chistmas wish to you over to this thread :)
Uhg! How awful to happen on Christmas. God bless her and keep her.
Kelly Wright - singing Have Yourself a Merry Christmas with the three tenors - just great.
I just watched Peggy did they just pull it in certain areas because George is still a Jack^^^.
Thank you for all you do all year.
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas all!
Don't know if I can take the talking heads this morning though...
Maybe after presents!!!
I believe this is where Powell puts down the administration...once again...
Final analysis showed 6 died in the Superdome. 4 of natural causes, one knife fight, iirc, and no children that I remember, contrary to this reporter's "eye-witness" account.
Agreed that the biggest story was more likely how wrong the media got it.
Plus the sonorous respectful tone while quoting from an article from the New York Times, while showing the text on the screen.
I just wish a guest would say something like, I decline to respond to anything from the unreliable rag, the NYT.
We assumed, Alas, you might be busy with family and presents this morning, and threw up an emergency Sunday morning thread after a bit. Glad you've reported for duty. Merry Christmas.
Gearge Bush was at fault he was sleeping at the ranch and was out of it he didn't know anything the secret service kept him out of the loop.
Merry Christmas from ted koppel and tom brokaw
Sympathetic figures
If the Lord is to call one of his children back home then what better day to go to Him but on his birthday?
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Too many to individually wish Merry Christmas to, so this is for everyone.
Morgan in Denver
The only difference between the Bush administration and Clintons is 911 - Ted Koppel
I think the democrats need to acknowledge the good that George Bush has acheived in iraq i think it's a mistake that they don't - Tom Brokaw
Merry Christmas to you, Morgan. I am very sorry that I missed Kelly Wright signing with the 3 tenors.
versus the leaned backed, smiling, open armed softball-ladened questioning of democrats Mr. Russert.
The worst was addressing Brussard the LA Parish idiot as Mr. President.
WOW! I don't get into the glass half full, glass half empty thing- my glass ALWAYS RUNNETHS OVER! BUT- that post of yours sure is a "chipper" attitude.
My heart goes out to snugs. We may know that Snugs' mum is in a better place, but I am sure snugs feels the loss, pain, and suffering.
My prayers are with snugs in this time of mourning. May God bring snigs comfort and healing.
Agreed.
Merry Christmas to you and yours AB. Thanks for your diligence!
No question, the media not only got this wrong but exposed themselves as inept and willing to repeat rumors without learning the facts. If anything, the story of the year could well be the media's failure to verify news before reporting it.
Thanks
Thanks and thanks for the thread especially on Christms Day
Me too. Kelly Wright has a beautiful voice. OTOH, we've been listening to a Christmas Esteban tape and NO TV. That too is a blessing, until it's time to turn it on. (LOL)
hey there..
WE LOVE YOU!
Thank you that was wonderfully put
Sure...
Nevermind that pesky impeachment.
Monica.
Clinton's repeated refusal to deal with terrorism causing Bin Ladin to cite he'd learned America was a paper tiger that would cut and run.
The Clinton's addiction to polls to the extent they formed vacations around them.
Setting the IRS on their political enemies.
Trying to accuse their adversaries of being responsible for Oklahoma (Rush) or labeling them part of a vast right wing conspiracy.
Their cosy relationship to China.
We can keep going.
LOL! GREAT LIST!!
Merry Christmas, AB, All
Thanks for your posting all year and especially today when, one assumes, you have a few other things to do.
A Sunday without McVain or Biden is a day without sunshing, isn't it ?
Thank you everyone has been so supportive - thanks. Dad and I have decided to have our Christmas dinner tomorrow as we have a friend coming round. We will probably leave opening our presents until then today we shall just spend some time together.
I must not forget to stuff the goose later though.
There are too many to list. Kopel's comment proves his inability to face the truth versus lies and misleading media accounts of President Bush's presidency. History will prove Kopel is a fool.
I am glad you will be surrounded with love today, I hope you know how much we all care for you.
You are true GEM! I pray peace be with you, comfort and healing....
