Christian Propaganda Taking the Merry out of Christmas (Barf Alert)

I was raised Jewish, and am certainly no Christian. But I am 55 years old, and I can assure the author of this piece that the Christmas season was a LOT merrier before all the secular Progressive anti-Christian bigots tried to drive every last vestige of Christian meaning and symbolism from the traditional American Christmas holiday.

I wonder if this writer goes by the Christian calander or if he refuses to accept any check that uses a year based on the number of years since Christ was born?

"Why do ALL people that despise Christians always resort to name calling?"

These people have no joy in them except the joy they get in the glorification of their ego.

If you think Christmas is about giving and charity then you are brutally mistaken. Christmas is about greed.

Well, yes. You spend 30 years removing all public acknowledgement of Christianity from the holidy and then -- what a surprise -- all that's left is "greed" and (gasp) focus on profits.

Guys like Paul Szczesny have taken all the good feeling, merriment, and aspiration to something decent (even if people don't always live up to that aspiration), and they have left nothing in its place but mean-spirited pettiness, shallowness and litigation.

They've turned the Christmas season into the perfect cynical, smart-alecky, disrespectful, divisive, narcissistic expression of Progressive misanthropy. I'm sure they'll all be very happy and very merry indeed.

I for one, am not offended by your remarks. I do not personally feel the need to conduct a Crusade to keep Christmas alive & intact (such as the warm family picture that you describe), but I would ask, when was the last time you used (or even heard) the term "gay" for its true meaning ("Full of or showing high-spirited merriment")?

Liberals are intent upon usurping and torturing the words (and their meanings) and values that represent the America that I grew up with.

They are purposeful in their desire to trample them under foot. What their ultimate aim is varies from group to group, but it is readily apparent that anything Christian is a target for minimizing and disenfranchisement. You might have noticed that any reference to a Christian is now flavored by "Fundamentalist" (in the same way that they "legitimized" far-right Republican).

I agree that there are a few who have gotten a bit heavy-handed in their opposition (I see nothing wrong with "Happy Holidays" either), but understand that this isn't the central focus nor is it at the heart of the matter.

Personally, I enjoy being politically incorrect - I've considered myself such all along. So I have no hesitation about jacking someone up when they impose their crap on me.

In the end we may lose this fight to keep tradition alive, but I won't let it slip away without a fight.

Merry Christmas to you & yours!

Our local right-wing radio host, Jim Quinn, likes to say, "Everything before the 'but' is BS."

Too damn bad Quinn caved to the powers that be and now charges $$ to listen to his stream. I listened every day to his archives up until he started charging.........oh well..."See ya later Jim and Rose, ya lost me".

This is interesting in that it seems to be a liberal harkening back to the good ole days when Christians would just shut up and be meek and humble in the face of attack. I'm sure he would love it if Christians would just roll over and except his word for it that Christianity is a farce. I also love his comment about people today needing verification and proof before they believe anything. I really wonder what kind of world he lives in because if anything the modern world cares less about what is true or provable than ever before.

People seem to be more inclined to believe what serves them with less reflection on the intellectual honesty of their positions but then again what this writer is doing is posturing and displaying his own insecurity (using his own standard of course) because if he really was confident in his belief then he should take his own advice and be quiet about it. It all boils down to liberals wanting to inaugurate themselves intellectual kings without having to prove a thing. I mean how could we Christians be so bold and be so inferior at the same time?

Remember folks this is an indication that we have them on the run. These bitter angry small people (not elves) don't want us messing up their cynical small worldview that they wish everyone to be forced to share. It was all going so smoothly and then Reagan came along and messed up their grand plans for the US to take its deserved place in history along side other aging empires in the UNs world government nursing home.

first of all, thank you for reading my post--i know it was long... as with "Happy Holidays," i refuse to give in to a certain segment of society when it comes to the word, "gay." i use it for its true meaning whenever i can... i refer to those attracted to their own sex as "homosexual." i'm glad you were not offended... i meant none... i am on the side of "the true meaning of Christmas."

may you and your family and friends be blessed with the peace, joy and love that can only be found in Jesus... may you have a Christmas that is merry and gay, and a New Year filled with all that God has to offer you...

thank you for your thoughtful reply...

To those who would like to remove all reference to God and Christianity from America, perhaps they should think about
the work in doing such a task.
It is not just taking all mention of Christ out of public mention or God out of the pledge of allegiance and money.
The pilgrims came here to avoid religious persecution.

The oldest city in America is (Saint) Augustine. There are
so many cities that begin with Saint, Santa, San, or Sao.
Los Angeles (the city of Angels) Sacrament(o). And all Salems refer to (Jerusalem) God's holy city.
They would have to change the names of hundreds of cities.

Thats just one example of thousands of things that would
have to be done, they should live so long!
The guy who is trying to get the mention of under God is
such an angry and bitter man that it shows in his sour face

Honda has a commercial song We wish you a Happy Holiday, they changed the name from Merry Christmas. Irvin Berlin
would be banned, along with thousands of songs and singers.

The calendar would have to be changed back to the Roman 10
month version, we couldn't have on that refers to the 12 tribes of Israel and the number of disciples. The seven day week would have to go.

The fourth of July could not be celebrated it mentions a creator. All depictions of Columbus' ships would have to
expunge the crosses on his sails.

LIST OF THESE TYPES AND MORE COULD GO ON FOREVER..

It is nice to see so much hypocritical blabber masked as true criticism; I was getting a little tired of real argument. My only regret is that I have failed to find such humor at an earlier time - perhaps Christmas Eve when the herd of cattle came online simultaneously to grace the web with their overly-indulgent cow-pies. Nevertheless, better late then never.

Now where to start devouring this ridiculous excuse of a discussion...

Well lets start with the fact that I don't think any of you even had the slightest bit of wit capable of understanding the written piece. You claim that I am anti-god, anti-democracy, and that I am hypocritically against free speech; didn't they ever teach you right-wing fundamentalist fascists (taking a page of criticism out of all of your books) how to both read and understand in school? Somehow you have all jumped to the conclusion that by criticizing someone's method of exerting speech that I am criticizing freedom of speech in general; sounds like typical conservative logic (Your either for the war or unpatriotic!). It is like saying a peace activist should not defend themselves when being violently attacked. If people have the right to shove garbage down my throat then I similarly have the right to regurgitate it back in its more accurate form.

I also noticed someone saying I must resort to name-calling? Well isn't that funny. The primary use of argument against me in this discussion is that I am a leftist, communist, marxist, anitgodist, grinch, liberal, and even to the desperate point of criticizing the number of vowels in my name (LOL!). It seems typical practice for you christians to segregate anyone different from yourselves in order to avoid confronting their ideas. Anyone that does not share you beliefs is simply evil because of one of your arbitrary labels - whether it be a communist, muslim, agnostic, or any other. I suppose you are all following your noble leader ("there is an enemy") and that separating yourselves from reality feeds your unrelenting egos. Fight on you great martyr's; fight for your cozy little hypnotized ego buffet whilst the real world continues to hate your greed in greater numbers.

I must now correct your plentiful errors and tell you that I am not antigod or communist. I love the Christmas Holidays and my family enjoys ever minute of being together - it is always a truly special occasion. However, I do not need to believe in the literal Christ to enjoy such an occasion as you people may suggest. I have that apparently rare capability so separate story from reality. The only reason for you anger and outrage at my post is that it cuts into your oh so inflated egos of being the superior religion and spiritual practice. Heaven forbid someone claims that a story accepted and forced upon the world by a government with ambitions for global domination (Pssst, I know your being conservative and all that your history isn't that great, I'm talking about Rome) has misinterpreted it in order to gain greater control over the population - What an outrageous idea!

Don't worry Christians, I am not out to destroy your religion. You say I am intolerant because I criticize your intolerance? Sort of how the Allies were war seekers for violently trying to prevent war? Believe what you will but spare us your outdated missionary work. I do believe in tolerance, which is why I disagree with your methods of imposing your values. Have beliefs - don't force them on others.

I wish you all the best in the New Year and may you live your lives however you please. Questioning routine is not always bad though - how else do you progress? May the spirit of God live on, whatever form it takes.
