Here's a little device that I've found very useful...
"BUT" really stands for "Behold the Ultimate Truth" for the speaker. If you take what comes after the "but" as the speaker's actual opinion, these kind of articles, (and much other stuff as well) are much easier to understand. When I read these days, I almost always expand the "b.u.t." acromyn into its full expression.
Why do ALL people that despise Christians always resort to name calling?
Thanks Indcons,
This is not just an assault on Christians, it is an assault on all religious peoples.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
"fundamentalist religious groups have started abusing their right to freedom of speech..."
There you have it guys. If the liberals have their way, then it's just a matter of time before the Supreme Court declares that "freedom of speech" does not apply to Christians.
Thanks A.Hun, my FRiend. Merry Christmas to you and yours. May this season bring happiness, success, and prosperity to everybody who is dear to you.

Many thanks to you, FRiend!
...the author certainly shows an authentic dem/stealth-commie attitude towards those that disagree with his views!
I think I just got whiplash.
That 'but' pretty much kills everything said before it don't you think? He's one of the 'Free Speech for me but not for thee' crowd. Let him rot.
And "BUTT" pretty much describes this guy.
The low ratio of vowels to consonants in his name leads me to discount anything he says. ;)
Our local right-wing radio host, Jim Quinn, likes to say, "Everything before the 'but' is BS."
i actually went Christmas shopping last week at my favorite mall in San Jose... i haven't gone to the mall for Christmas shopping in years, as i've been buying most of my gifts online... my kids even took a picture with this terrifically jolly Santa Claus... they loved it, and so did i... and we even had lunch at California Pizza Kitchen with Grandma... does this sound secular for a professing Christian? get a load of this: every Christmas Eve we get together with my side of the family... about 35 of us crammed into my parents' living room, with presents pouring out from beneath the Christmas tree... it's quite a spectacle... and it's fantastic... and i hope it never changes... it is the Duran Family Christmas... we play a "tacky" white elephant game... we sing Christmas caroles as my son Jonathan plays them on a keyboard... we reveal who we drew in the secret drawing and exchange the special gifts... we pray while holding hands throughout the living room, family room and hallway--with the lights turned down, except for the colorful lights of the Christmas tree... and we eat turkey, ham, and tamales...
while i understand the concern many Christians have regarding "Christ" being left out of Christmas, i refuse to speak out against "shopping, presents and Santa" if it's kept in its proper perspective... and while i agree that a Christmas tree should never be called a Holiday tree, i refuse to give up the sentiment, "Happy Holidays." when i was growing up, Happy Holidays was not considered "politically correct." it simply meant, "Merry Christmas, Happy New Year." why should i stop using a perfectly good greeting simply because a "liberal" segment of society has taken it hostage? Why should i be offended by "Merry Xmas," when i know the history behind the X in Xmas? it was not mean to leave Christ out of Christmas... X is Greek for Christos or Xristos... some Christians felt unworthy to write the name Christ, so they used the Greek symbol X in its place... frankly, i prefer the first two letters in Xristos--Xr: Merry Xrmas...
so, am i a Christian (or Xrtian) who has given in to the ways of the world? absolutely not... i know that "Jesus is the Reason for the Season." i know the importance of the that great event that took place 2000 years ago in the City of David... in that, "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem." in fact, "great event" doesn't even begin to describe what Jesus did for us that Silent Night, Away in a Manger... tears come to my eyes as i even try to fathom the Christmas story... His humble birth... His humble life as a carpenter... His earth-shattering ministry... His unjust but oh-so-necessary death on that Old Rugged Cross... His glorious resurrection... to offer all of mankind the free gift of eternal life... having accepted His gift allows me to say with confidence that my sins are forgiven, i am a new creation... and allows me to say with the Apostle Paul in Romans 8:38-39:
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angles nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
so no--not even "Happy Holidays," nor "Merry Xrmas," nor "Season's Greetings," nor "Saint Nick, Kris Kringle and Santa Claus" can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord--amen?
i realize what i'm posting may not be so popular with many here; however, i think that the only real way we are going to see a change in how people see Christmas is the same way it is with anything else... one heart at a time... are we witnessing? are we sharing the Gospel? or are we just making statements hoping people will show "outward" changes? this is what i've been asking myself the last couple of weeks...
mis dos centavos...
What a poor soul. IT's sad really.
Oh, no, of course you don't.
The freedom of speech stops at the eyes or ears of unwilling recipients of the said speech.
