Cameras in Germany are prevalent...and used to be absolute fool-proof...with no one being able to argue about them and their accuracy. But in the past two or three years...experts have began taking these apart and realizing that certain types of cameras are faulty. There are cameras angled at such...that they are pointed at the front vehicle but are actually hitting the fast approaching second vehicle or truck from behind. So there are experts showing up in German court and actually taking apart the fool-proof system that the cops thought they had. Even the courts are starting to slide over to the defense side and dismiss cases that have just a simple expert displaying the angles of the camera and the inability of the technician to place them correctly.
Where are you originally from?
Interestingly, father's family is from near Marietta.....talk about EXCELLENT motorcycle riding in the foothills of the Apps.
There's a 0% chance of speed cameras on the roads I ride down there!
UHhhh.....
Are these PORTABLE???
Like with a TRAILER HITCH?
....eatin' a donut.
In all seriousness, this Cameras for Ca$h is the kind of thing that gets mayors recalled, and you certainly have the enthusiasm to run a fired-up campaign.
Some other campaign positions:
Term limits for mayor and council (current mayor's been in since '87)
Major tax incentives for any high-tech industry to locate headquarters in town, more if they also locate manufacturing
How do you know if they are not convicting the innocent? With a camera, the individual who gets a ticket part of their ability to dispute the ticket.
If I lived in Akron, I'd vote for you. Rock on!
It's not Orwellian, which is a police state with seeks to survive, it is suicidal insanity.
Thanks!
I'm giving it major consideration, and might go ahead and register a web domain for it. The next mayoral election is in 2007, so I have a while.
Maybe I can get (hopeful) GOVERNOR Blackwell's endorsement by then!
I know you're not in Akron, but Ping! anyway.
This can't possibly be constitutional. How do you face your accuser when your accuser is a for profit corporation operating a machine. Big brother has outsourced speeding tickets.
Which may well be a big point of my mayoral campaign in 2007...if I should decide to run.
If you run, I'll do what I can to help.
Next mayoral race in Akron is in '07. I could probably get the support of:
-Police Union (they oppose the cameras)
-Governor Blackwell (hopefully he will be!)
-Most business groups
-OAMB (Ohio Assn. of Mortgage Brokers)
-Summit County and Ohio GOP
-Many Freepers!
how the in the world to you declare, in a court of law, one person an alert driver and another not? There is no way, so the enforcement system has to assume the lowest common denominator. All of your alert driver comments go right out the window at the first intersection traffic accident, because they happen everyday and most people will describe a moment when they lost sight of the lights and made a mistake. get real.
Well today's Beacon Journal says the mayor is "reconsidering" the cameras...looks like I lost a campaign promise!
now you're getting real... the accident happens because of something... ticket the driver when the accident occurs... not that they may be driving to cause harm to someone... that is what speeding tickets are... crimes that might cause harm to someone but hasn't yet...
revenue generating.
