Bless you! And your beautiful family!
Merry Christmas!
No public schools get Good Friday off, and "Spring Break" comes in March, even if Easter falls in April.
People accepted this without a murmur.
Thanksgiving used to include religious mentions and prayers, including front page proclamations and prayers in newspapers. Now it is simply an excuse to have a big meal, as far as the media is concerned.
However, Christmas is buried deep in the hearts of people, because it is tied to their childhood. Even people who are not particularly religious are astounded at the lack of Christmas this year, and it is really making people think about the direction this PC stuff is taking us.
By the way, I get the Land's End catalogue. Why do those "holiday" stockings have angels and that funny man in a red suit on them?
Oh, good point! The increasing emphasis on Halloween while Christmas is suppressed is NOT a good thing!
I have been telling my friends and family about all this PC garbage as well. I don't see how retailers can deny the holiday they get a really large portion of their money from. I will be interested to see what all these retailers do next year since they know more people are paying attention to it all.
Merry Christmas!
Urban Outfitters should be glad I am not in charge of lightning bolts.
Why, do you think we can't walk and chew gum at the same time?
I just wrote them and basically told them that since more than 80 percent of the population self identifies as Christian, they are alienating a large chunk of their customer base, and for sure they weren't getting my Christmas business just for that reason.
Don't help them prune their mail list. Inform that the "holiday" catalog will be put in the garbage and let them figure out who you are.
It is important, because it's an eroding away of what we hold as cultural norms.
Dear Lands End,
I received your catalog yesterday. Unfortunately, I won't be buying from it this year or in any other year when you refuse to mention Christmas in Christmas season mailings.
You replied to another customer that "We find ourselves in a difficult position with this issue. As a result, we have adopted the holiday terminology as a way to comply with one of the basic freedoms granted to all Americans: freedom of religion."
Nice try but a transparent attempt to attempt to shift the focus from your politically correct absurdity to a "freedom of religion" argument is just plain silly.
You also mentioned that If we knew which customers feel as you do, we would be delighted to send them catalogs with Merry Christmas splashed throughout the pages. However, we dont.
Well now you know of at least one. Send the catalog. Then I'll buy.
Merry Christmas.
Sincerely,
And a very, very MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours, my friend. I have learned much from your posts this past year and look forward to many more.
And everyone can clearly see how whacked out all this PC garbage has become.
I just got the catalogue in the mail today, my husband said recently that he'd like to get more of their shirts, which are really well-made (at least they were the last time we bought some).
The last time he got some of those shirts, he ordered 10 or 12 of them at one time, and was going to do the same this time.
That's a pretty decent-sized order.
But this time that money is not going to Land's End.
Some other business that isn't afraid to mention the dreaded C-word will get that order.
I'll be sure to let LE know too.
Thanks for alerting us! My request was sent.
Yes, I understand that you will send me a catalogue identifying Christmas Gifts with the label Christmas.
Please send immediately:
