To me, you are the one who is not understanding. I'm not equating prayer with a Christmas greeting, I'm just saying Let's not pressure people into recognizing Christmas, by boycotting their stores. We don't need them and their employer-instructed verbiage. And this way we keep it genuine.
You seem to be saying that Christians have a greater obligation to be silent before men (used generically), than to be salt and light, or even witnesses of His.
I seem to recall Jesus saying something about if we are ashamed of him in an adulterous generation He will be ashamed of us when He returns in glory.
I see by the fact that you are quoting cliches (freedom from religion etc.) on the issue that you have a kind of kneejerk response.
I am a committed Christian who believes in witnessing at every opportunity. Everyone who pays attention on FR knows this. How dare you say that I am ashamed of Christ.
"As a result, we have adopted the holiday terminology as a way to comply with one of the basic freedoms granted to all Americans: freedom of religion."
What on earth does that mean? A private company is not banned from using the word "Christmas" or even to use the greeting "Merry Christmas" by the Constitution. That has to be one of the most tortured semantic/linguistic watusis of sophistry I have yet seen on this controversy.
They can have separate "Winter" and "Christmas" catalogs or even different sections in the same catalog. They could even have a "Winter/Christmas" catalog. Good grief! This is getting ridiculous. And howlingly absurd!
