Mod note: We're having problems with folks not searching before posting. Warnings have not been effective, so the mod squad is cracking down! This violator's account has been banned as a warning to others. Do NOT cross the mods!

The ocean current that gives western Europe its relatively balmy climate is stuttering, raising fears that it might fail entirely and plunge the continent into a mini ice age.

The dramatic finding comes from a study of ocean circulation in the North Atlantic, which found a 30% reduction in the warm currents that carry water north from the Gulf Stream.

The slow-down, which has long been predicted as a possible consequence of global warming, will give renewed urgency to intergovernmental talks in Montreal, Canada, this week on a successor to the Kyoto Protocol.

Harry Bryden at the Southampton Oceanography Centre in the UK, whose group carried out the analysis, says he is not yet sure if the change is temporary or signals a long-term trend. "We don’t want to say the circulation will shut down," he told New Scientist. "But we are nervous about our findings. They have come as quite a surprise."

I thought global warming was going to melt the icecaps and flood out the lowlands. Guess that wasn't bad enough to scare us all into trading in our oil guzzlers, so now it's going to cause a mini-ice age (which I'm guessing would add ice to the icecaps) and then later melt those same icecaps and flood us all. We're doomed either way.

The worse the climate gets - or so the media proclaims -
the more control politicians will try to get over your lives. George Orwell couldn't have thought up a more devious scenerio.

Okay, here's the plan... our drinking water today is simply dinosaur pee, right?

So... what we need-- dinosaurs. Crisis averted.

Remember in the early 70's, we were being led to belive in global cooling. Remember the Time Mag cover with the deep blue picture of the Earth?

Nobody bought that crap, so they figured they'd try to scare us with global warming, instead.

Even MSM conspiracies are cyclical......

Did y'all ever look at how hard it would be to check new headlines posted against the last week or so's headlines and blocking duplicates to cut on the aggravation factor for the mods?

Europeans may end up freezing in their own special, little H#ll....and we're supposed to be concerned about that?

(I had the entire paragraph written below before I went back and read the comments). Anyway, it should be noted that network news newsrooms eat this stuff up because their employers will be able to sell another round of schlock teotwawki mini-series to the easily amused public. It all feeds the upon itself.

Even the scientists and researchers who are debunking global warming are in agreement with those researchers who support global warming theories when it comes to the North Atlantic Gulf Stream shift. The Gulf Stream shift is a well known and well documented cycle that has affected human societies in western and northern Europe, Iceland Greenland and north eastern North America for millenia.
