There are a number of common sense measures (some of which are probably already in place) that can help to clean any turds out of the nest: a. "beef up" the counter-intelligence and inspector-general functions within CIA (to include adding some undercover FBI types to "mind the minders"); b. instigate a new series of "bring up to date" background investigations and polygraph exams on current and former employees; c. putting more FBI counter-intelligence agents inside the Beltway to monitor CIA, and applying the Judith Miller squeeze on more Left-Wing reporters to find out from whence the leaks are emanating; d. letting the leakers feel the pressure that Scooter Libby is under (i.e. prosecuting them to the fullest extent of the law). To me that sounds like a better approach.

This is unbelievable. If true, the people doing this need to be found at all costs, tried for treason, and quite possibly executed (or at the very least locked up in a maximum security prison, never to see the light of day again). EVERY single current and former CIA employee should immediately be made to undergo extensive polygraph tests, by force if necessary, starting with the people who had knowledge of the compromised operations.

If this is what eight years of Clinton has brought us, I don't think we can survive another eight!! God help the USA!! These liberals are going to destroy us yet.

...there are reporters finally mentioning that the whole Joe Wilson trip was part of a larger internal CIA plan to discredit the Bush administration.

Who, besides FReepers, have written and reported in this fashion?

Nobody in the MSM, certainly.

CIA gets paid to do this kind of thing overseas. They are not supposed to do it within the US.

Their anti-Bush campaign has to rank as one of their most successful operations in decades.

Call in the budget for the CIA and put it on hold till this stops. They all want their paychecks, so this should help stem the flow.

Now that's what the Chesapeake Bay Bridge twin spans are for. 4.3 miles x 4 parapets gives 15 miles of decorating space. Besides the crab population could use some help.
;>)

Okay, okay....but it's a start.

This has been a good lesson to them. They need to listen to their base (like that's suppose to be a new concept!). Bush tried to "get along", but found out it's like trying to get along with Al Quata. It'll never happen.

Bush probably thinks if he resorts to the same scorched earth policy the Democrats are using we will end up in a civil war.

The C.I.A. gets and spends over a BILLION dollars a day as does the N.S.A.
How long has it been since 9-11? Have they come up with Zacarwi or bin laden?
Hell they couldn't even predict that the soviet union was going bankrupt.
Mostly just a bunch of beauracrats watching the clock til retirement.

The fact is that we are already at war with ourselves and have been for a long time. For instance, how many liberal-lefties want to see our defeat in Iraq?

This is getting serious and it needs to be traced down and exposed once and for all. Just who is in charge of the CIA, it's certainly not America, so what country is running this place?

This should be top priority for the FBI, the military intelligence and Negroponte.

They don't have time for that, they're too busy trying to get Bush.

On a roundtable with Foxnews this was brought up. The questions were - as best as I can recall.

1) How does someone active in Dem politics get selected for a sensitive fact finding mission.
2) It is standard procedure at the CIA to have these type of people sign strict non-disclosure agreements - meaning Wilson would not have been able to discuss with NY Times. Why wasn't this done for Joe Wilson?

It didn't go any further than that but it was a start.

The fact is that we are already at war with ourselves and have been for a long time.

True but it's escalating, first we would compete before the election and once the people had spoken everyone would unite behind the chosen leader.

Then during the Clinton's time it was politics year round.

Now it seems that the obstruction and sabotage is out in the open and blatant. The CIA, the MSM, and the Democrats seem to be trying to destroy the administration.

What's next ? Street to street fighting ?

I agree. There is an element that seems to be willing to destroy our institutions to accomplish revolution. They must be exposed (in this instance, CIA) if we are to survive as a nation.

I hate to say it but this has been Bush's CIA for nearly 5 years. He should have cleaned house a long time ago. He didn't and so he is paying the price. Same thing at State. He hired a Lefty to run it for 4 years. No house cleaning there. I don't know if Condi has made any progress either.

We were treated like we were crazy.

It was apparent that many holdovers were acting like sabotuers, but the administration made the mistake assuming that these people were loyal Americans.
