Did anyone else see the last 10 minutes or so of "Criminal Minds", the CBS drama with FBI profilers? I can't beleieve what I just saw. They portrayed a female student reciting the Lord's Prayer while dousing other students with kerosene in a tank and then lighting a flare, about to set them on fire. When confronted by an FBI agent, she sai "God chose me to do this. If I don't something terrible will happen". He shouts at her "God chose you? BE RATIONAL. Don't do this". She does not relent and he shoots her, apparently fatally.
I am dumbfounded at how utterly and disgustingly offensive this was to Christians. I still can't even believe what I just saw. Did anyone else see this?
What's CBS?
Now ask yourself this. Would they dare do the same scene with a Muslim reciting the Koran before killing innocents? Of course not, even though that happens EVERY SINGLE DAY in the Middle East.
And at what time did you call CBS to complain?
See B.S.? I don't watch teeeveee anymore. A mind is a terrible thing to waste (watching teeeeveeee).
If they'd been reciting the koran, it would have at once been offensive to the PC and obligatory to everyone else.
I had just tuned in. Still pretty messed up.
if you check, most of the new crime shows 9 times out of ten the bad guy will be an armed fores veteran, a gun owner, a Christian , or a "right wing fanic" whatever that is.
As soon as I noiced this trend I stopped watching all the shows.
Just after my post, and emailed as well.
Plus, the kids were in an elevator not a tank. And, the agent shot her in the leg, it wasn't fatal.
Andrea Yates was pretty disgusting and offensive as well....
Mapes, Rather, Christian bashing, 60 Minutes, not one conservative in the news department -- it might be time to give up on CBS.
Matter of fact I did. Was a pretty decent show. Especially with the actor from Dead Like Me. Need to lose the husband from Dharma and Greg, he just can't pull it off. Is really my second favorite show now, NUMB3ERS being the first. I suppose it was better than the Law and Order. Throwing off Amendments faster than the Framers could have written them, all for a good cause...
Thanks for filling in my blanks.
You've jumped to conclusions based on the last 30 seconds of the show. tsk. tsk.
Lol, good one.
You're almost right...
Check out http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/default.htm#attacks
where there's a list of Islamic attacks.
In the past 30 days, there was only one attack-free day: Nov. 3rd.
Other than that, there were no days where there were fewer than 2... and the list goes on and on and on and on and on.
"it might be time to give up on CBS"
I gave up on CBS the day Walter Cronkite tossed in his hat with the NVA.
Despite my conclusions, the character did indeed "Father, Son and Holy Spirit", and asserts that "God chose me to do this" (to murder 3 people). Substitute a Muslim character for this woman and the writers would find themselves with a fatwa. Christians and Christian prayers and symbols are fair game as metaphors of unthinking evil.
Watch the show, in full.
Do yourself a favor and turn the Marxist propaganda off.
But, something to think about:
The TV media boasts when a show gets 20-30 million viewers as that is supposedly a very large amount. But, when you compare this to the population of, say, 290 million, only around 10% of the population is watching. Not really an impressive number.
30 years ago when 20-30 million people watched a show, that was up to 25-30% of the total population. Quite a difference.
That is why I laugh when I see people getting upset about something that happened on, say, MSNBC. They are lucky to get 1 million people watching a show. That would be 3/10's of 1% of the population, or 1,000,000 watching and 289,000,000 not watching.
Do not get me wrong: I do not underestimate what power the old media has left, but the numbers do show they are losing ground.
Now, if only there were Republicans in congress that are willing to go for the kill!!
I watched the whole show and I never got the impression that her problem had anything to do with Christianity. She was obsessed with 3's and fire and her apartment had imagery of those two topics from the Old Testament as well as Greek mythology if I remember correctly.
Yeah, I'm sure the writers' choice of Father, Son and Holy Spirit were just a coincidence.
Nah....It's not like she killed anyone else's kids.....I mean c'mon....poor thing.....she needs just love and understanding.. no big deal......
*rolls eyes*
I pretty much stopped watching television when they took Have Gun Will Travel and Amos n Andy off the air in 59...
I know a number of shows have been taking a swipe at Christianity but this was not one of them.
someone getting doused with fluid and lit on fire is the reason i gave up on television. regardless who did it. who wants to see such trash.
so, she had obsessive compulsive disorder? I have a son with that, and I'd hate for people with OCD to start to be cast as killer maniacs.
Mrs VS
In real life the agent could get fired for that as it would be a $25 million jury payout if she ended up in a wheelchair. Cops in America these days are trained to kill. No wounding, no warning shot, fill target with lead. No wheelchairs is rule number one.
You expected differently from CBS? Earlier in the month, CSI went after Christians along with their hurricane mini-series several weeks ago.
"...right wing fanic" whatever that is. "
It's what you just listed, all rolled into one.
Because Christians never commit murder, right?
The John Emil List Murders
John Emil List was a man of faith. He read the Bible daily, taught Sunday school and prayed often. He did everything he could to shelter his wife and three children within the Lutheran faith. Though he failed, it is the way he dealt with his failure for which he will be remembered.
...
John had originally considered killing himself, but he didn't want to leave his children destitute and alone with a dying and demented mother. And suicide was a sin which would bar him from Heaven. Backruptcy and welfare were options too humiliating to consider. He was certain it would drive his wife and children even further from a life of faith. The only way he could solve his problems AND insure heaven for his family was to kill them. He knew, from John 3:16, that God would forgive him.
And, she was crazy as a loon---The religious aspect was based on an obsessive-compulsive personality. Those who are so damn anxious to slam the show and network are being intellectually dishonest. It was the mental illness that drove the character not any religiosity. Come on posters, get a sliver of integrity.
Agreed! Thank you.
The bigger question in the US is this....why is God not invoked to solve problems on US sitcoms. Here's what I mean. I travel to foreign counties, and during my down-time, I switch on the local channels to see what's the big issues. Familes, are familes, all over the world. But, sitcom families in other counties PRAY. Would you belive, when a family is in trouble, etc. they pary for devine intervension. When did you see that on Friends, Raymond, etc. etc. No character on US sitcom ever asks for help from God. Strange!!
Then I suppose I must plead guilty to being one then.
Then you saw the scene where the homo "finds himself", breaks up with his girlfriend, and who recounts to the sympathetic leading star of the show how she told him homosexuality is a sin and that he's going to hell. Hehe. Sly of them to slip that in with the nutty Christian killer.
I will also note the nutty Christian killer was about to burn the sodomite to death. Doesn't take a genious to figure out this wasn't about the number 3.
I'm starting to think that it's in the Writer's Guild contract that if a network drama features an avowed Christian and a murder in the same show it must produce a cause-and-effect relationship between the two before the hour ends.
Read between the lines...
You are quite correct but it does not invalidate my point: Even the largest market share shows are only seen by maybe 10-15% of the entire population of our country. That is good.
No, wrong.
What does that have to do with the fact that this FReeper condemns this horrible behavior?
I've noticed that too.......and Boston Legal has gotten bad with their PC, tree hugging crap. Had to turn it off last time it was on. D*amned shame, could have been a good show.
I don't watch the Criminal Minds show, but doesn't surprise me. These producers have really gone overboard with promoting the tree hugging, anti-Christian, tree huggers.
I like Numbers also... I watch Criminal Minds. Plus NCIS... I confess, I watch the Gilmore Girls... I just overlook the liberal crap...
It's hardly new for psychos in TV and movies to be driven by God. They even had 'em on Babylon 5.
The reason is simple: it's more dramatic. Take the extreme: what's more shocking... finding out that the serieal killer was the creepy Goth guy down the block... or kindly Paster Smith?
