Now how does this contradict the fact that God commanded the carving of this image? Your post #20:
"You shall not make for yourself a carved image - any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them" Ex. 20:4-5a). The important point. Otherwise God would be contradicting himself when he commands the carving of images: Numbers 21:8...
If the emphasis of this commandment is on "you shall not bow down to them nor serve them" then God did contradict Himself because he foreknew that they would worship this bronze serpent. But if the emphasis is "you shall not make for yourself a carved image" then there is no contradiction in God's actions.

Jesus said that just two are needed to pray in His Name and in faith he will do what is asked.
Based on this, while some Catholics admittedly pray TO saints (i.e. St. Anthony) for intercession, some (like myself) see it as praying with the Saint to follow Our Lord's directive..just as we would pray with a friend.
This point of view is admittedly more devotional than theological.

''I think that it's incredible. It's a miracle. Why is she doing it?'' asked Maria Vasquez, 35. Perhaps...California is defiling itself with the innocent blood shed through thousands of state-sanctioned (and paid for) abortions?
